Sunlight crept in through the windows. I sighed. We had school. I quickly changed then went over to the room were Sofya was sleeping. She was still asleep. I softly shook her. She slowly opened her eyes. “It’s too early.” She muttered. “Come on we have school and I need to get you home.” She sighed then sat up. She had already changed in to the shorts and t-shirt she brought. She followed me down the staircase. We got shoes on then stepped outside. It was warm and sunny. “We still have lots to discuss so you can come back over after school.” I said. Sofya nodded. “Ok. So what am I exactly?” She asked as we walked to her house. “You’re an aemon, part demon part angel, I’m an aemon too.” I said. “Interesting.” Sofya said softly. Well that was good, she sounded more in awe then freaked out, which was surprising. “I always felt different, but I didn’t really know till I learned I could breathe underwater and talk to animals.” She led the way to a large white house that looked a little rustic. Sofya knocked on the front door. A small petite woman with long brown hair and brown eyes answered, she was human. “Hello.” The woman said giving me a strange look. “Sofya where have you been and who is this?” “Um.” Sofya said probably trying to think of what to say. “This is Ash and I was at his house doing homework then it started to storm and the power went out so.” Sofya said trailing off. The lady shook her head disapprovingly. “Both of you come in. I’m Sofya’s foster mother, call me Annie.” “I’m Ash Cercillia.” I said shaking the hand Annie had extended. “Come in.” Annie said then led us to the living room, Sofya and I sat on the couch and Annie sat in a chair across from us. “So you too were doing homework?” She asked first. We nodded. “How come neither of you told me or called.” She asked next. Sofya answered. “I forgot to tell you before I left and the power went out. My phone died and I don’t know your number by heart.” Annie nodded then grabbed a notepad and scribbled something down and handed the paper to me. “In case something like this happens again, now you can call.” Then Annie continued with the questions. “Are you two together, are you dating?” Sofya’s eyes bulged and her mouth fell open and pink flushed over her face. “No!” Sofya exclaimed. Then more calmly she said. “We are not dating.” I almost burst out laughing. Dating, I was sure Sofya hated me. “Then why did you stay over at his house.” Annie asked. “I told you it was storming.” Sofya protested, almost shouting. “Are you sure?” Annie said. Sofya buried her face in her hands. “Sofya I would like to speak with you privately, come on.” Annie said then exited the room. Sofya looked back, she shot me a help me look and an angry glare then followed Annie. I sighed, this was a mess. If she didn’t hate me before, she would now. I heard parts of their conversation since it was mostly shouting. “You two are together aren’t you?” Annie said. “No!” Sofya yelled. Then some hushed whispers. “You don’t believe me! Are you kidding me!” Sofya exclaimed. “No, I’m not blind I see the way you two look at each other.” Annie said. I grimaced, was I that obvious, but I didn’t notice her looking at me except for angry glares. “What!” I heard Sofya say next, well actually yell. “Fine then I am!” Was the last part I heard. Sofya stormed back into the room. “Sorry about that.” She said. Annie came in a second later. “Ash, come.” She said then exited again. I followed her out to another room. “Are you dating Sofya?” She asked looking straight at me. Ugh this lady didn’t look like she would believe us otherwise especially since Sofya would need to come over to my house all the time. “Yes.” I said.
