Friendship - Part 5

Friendship - Part 5

Aug 04, 2018

Once in the park, there was only waiting for Daniel to arrive with Alan to close the circle of trees with the last ropes and boards to prevent Alan from escaping as he always did when we tried to talk to him. Axel was at the top of the tree where the ropes needed to be tied, and it only took him to jump to tie the ropes that he held to the base of the tree to close the area where I was, but that would do when Alan entered.

-Alex –Axel said-, if things get violent, the others will intervene. Do not forget.

-Axel –I said-, if things get violent, wait a moment before intervening. If I have to give him a good blow on the face to make him see reason, so be it.

-You mean, if we both have to hit him a couple of times. I will not let you be the only one to let off steam with Alan.

-Do not forget me -Rebecca said from the opposite side of the ropes and boards-. I cannot bear that he hurt himself when he should get up and move on.

The three of us listened when hurried steps approached in our direction. At the hours we were, there was hardly any light to differentiate what were a few meters ahead, which gave us the advantage of preventing Alan from noticing the trap. Once Alan came in hurriedly and found me safe, I could see his bewilderment when I was safe, and Axel threw himself from the tree pulling the rope to lift the ropes that were waiting below, cornering Alan and me in a closed circle, and placing boards between the strings while Alan confronted me with a face full of frustration for the situation in which we had put it.

-What does this mean, Alex?! –Said Alan, with wrinkled forehead.

-What you see, a forced intervention because whenever we try to talk to you seriously, you run away.

- Is that what it is? Alan came up to me with heavy footsteps. Did they make me believe you were stabbed to bring me to this stupid place? What do you have in head?!

-Concern –Axel jumped in from the branches of the tree, and I could see that the tables were already on-. You do not let us talk to you about your problems, and you do not stop saying stupid things like leaving school, when you have not even had the courage to say a word to your parents.

-My life is not your business!

-Maybe you're right, but as friends, we cannot let you waste your life in the toilet like you've done since Valery.

My words made a punch of pain appear on Alan's face.

- You thought that we would never realize?

-You said we would never talk about that again –Alan finally seemed to put on a serious face-. Do not take out a topic as if nothing.

-But she is the reason why you act in this way -Rebecca came down from one of the trees with more care than Axel had before-. Just because a slut hurt you is not an excuse for you to hurt yourself more. We all knew later that she was a bitch who slept with anyone and the others outdid her, but apparently, although it's been almost two years, you're still tied by her words.

Rebecca's words seemed to have made him feel more pain, but that did not stop her from continuing to talk to him like that.

-Do you think that by stopping wearing glasses you stop being "simpleton"? What about leaving aside your studies and sleeping with many other sluts will you stop being a "Nerd"? The only thing you have done is to hurt yourself more than Valery did!

-You think I do not know?! -Finally Alan exploded, and against whom he began to take heavy steps in a childish way was not Axel or me, but Rebecca-. Do you think I do not know what I've done?! If it were so easy to solve, I would have stopped doing silly things long ago!

- And why have not you stopped doing it?!

-I don’t know!

After that, as we had thought could happen, Alan began to act more violently, but not against us, but against Rebecca. At first we worried a bit, but quickly Rebecca dominated Alan with the techniques of jiu-jitsu that we all knew he knew, but it was the first time we saw her apply these techniques in a serious way.

Several minutes passed while Alan tried to attack Rebecca, but she always neutralized him or threw him up. Axel and I had climbed the branches of the same tree where Rebecca came down, and we watched as what was supposed to be a peaceful intervention turned into a jiu-jitsu confrontation vs. Brute Force.

After half an hour of throwing himself at Rebecca, Alan finally collapsed on the ground. It was almost night, and finally it seemed that things had calmed down. Alan seemed finally to have ventured and finally we could help Alan to return to normal, but then, the sound of police sirens alerted us all together with the fall of Daniel from one of the trees while he made us signal to keep absolute silence, and we recognized the cry of a voice that belonged to a person that we could say was part of the problem: Ralf's scream while listening to police not far from where we were.
