“I know! I know what we have to do!” exclaimed the young woman! “What is attacking us is its corrupted soul! We must find its grave and stabbed its body with a stake made of aspen wood.”
“And how do we do this? We cannot get rid of it to look for the tomb. We don’t even know its name!”
The young man who was still standing up let go on his branch he was using to fight the monster. He ripped a small piece of wood and looked to the monster, before cutting the skin of his left arm. Blood was rushing along on his limb.
The creature stopped its attack, smelling the warm liquid behind it. When Arthur understood he had attracted the attention of their attacker, he ran to lurk the vampire away from the others wasters. Seo-Yun was the first to realize the intentions of the boy, she ceased to try summoning her inked weapon and began looking for an open grave.
“Hurry guys! We need to find its grave before it catches Arthur”
“Seo-Yun, the grave won’t be opened. It does not need to move the headstone to get out, it is an ethereal being not a material one. We need to find another solution” Soifra answered while helping Lachlan to stand up.
The boy rose up and quickly grabbed the cat, holding its face against his.
“Listen, Mister Fluffy Furry Cream, we need your help to find the grave”. He brought the cat closer from his face. “You found the vampire the first time, now help us kill it and then we go back home!”
“It is an animal, it can’t understand you” Seo-Yun sighed.
“Cats, or any pets, are afraid of vampires” The other girl tried to explain but the boy kept talking without paying her attention.
“If we kill the mean vampire before the sun rise, otherwise it is us who will die!” The cat wiggled and hissed between his arms, trying to escape. Finally, it clawed the waster´s skin and jumped to the ground. Full of disdain, it cleaned its fur that the waster had disrupted. Lachlan fell on his knees and started to beg the feline. “Please! I will feed you tuna and salmon! We need to kill it”
“Guys, quick! It is going to catch me” Arthur was slaloming between the tombstones pursued by the vampire.
The cat stopped itself in its movement and looked to the begging human. Disdainful, it slowly walked between the rows of graves and crosses. It sniffed the stones covered of weeds. After longs minutes of the cat strolling without hurry and Arthur trying his best to escape to the vampire´s sharp teeth, the small animal stopped in front of a grave covered of brambles. It sat on it and started licking his fur again.
“Have you found the grave?” screamed Arthur as his pursuer almost caught him.
“It cannot be this one. It is too old. A vampire can only live between forty days before its soul vanished. ..We need to find a grave that is not covered of weeds yet!” Soifra exclaimed.
The Wasters spread looking for a fresh grave, even Arthur looked for despite the vampire jumping from time to time in his direction. The blood had stopped flowing but the smell still attracted the corrupted soul.
Soifra was the first one to spot the unmarked grave. It was surrounded by an iron barrier; a large and heavy stone was laid on the grave while a cross topped it. She tried to move away the stone, Lachlan rushed to his help. They managed to displaced it a few centimeters on the side. When the vampire felt its grave was being touched, it stopped pursuing the waster to attack the rest of the group. When Arthur noticed the monster had stopped following him, he rushed to help the wasters and defend them. The vampire jumped again on Soifra to pull her away. This time she was ready and defend herself, fighting back the creature. As they noticed the young woman was not struggling too much, Arthur and Lachlan gather their strength to remove the headstone. Soifra tried her best to keep the vampire away from the tomb when it suddenly vanished in front of her.
“Guys! The vampire! It is gone”
“Watch out, we are almost done” Lachlan exclaimed.
The tombstone fell loudly on the ground, clicking against the iron barrier. Suddenly, the coffin moved and the vampire sprang from it, teeth and claws out. Extending its arms, it tried to attack the wasters but it did not have the time as Seo-Yun jumped in front of it. She was armed with her scythe. The young woman had successfully summoned her weapon when the others were struggling to open the grave. She sprang in front of the monster. Agilely, she swung the blade from the right to the left and beheaded the creature. The head rolled within a soft noise of the soil of the cemetery.
The vampire was dead as the sun was slowing breaking behind the roofs of the village.
They passed their first trial.
