When I woke the next morning I took a deep breath. The air smelt a lot more dusty and old than I remembered, but maybe that was just because I had been in a bad state. I put my hand up to the light and, to my surprise, it wasn't translucent. Which was a fucking relief, its enough having your cell mate know your a demon. I realized that I had absolutely no fucking idea who he was, nor why he was here, but again I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out at all. On the other side of the room I could hear him turn in his bed.
Was I talking out loud on accident? I thought, quite nervous.
But alas I wasn't and he remained quite asleep. I had basically nothing to do.
I could call Elvrya, sure, but I'd have a limted time and man does transporting take a toll on you. I also didn't want to risk losing my form yet again, which is what got me into this joint in the first place.
I couldn't get out of my cell , so , I decided to wake up Mr. Cell mate over there.
That probably wasn't a good idea.
He turned awake and sat up. For once, I managed to get a good look of his face. Square-ish jaw, slightly defined cheek bones, the beginings of a beard, and short black hair. There were various scars on his face, chest and arms. He had one right across his right eye. He had a constantly mean look on his face but despite that, he looked familiar to me.
Shit. I thought, No, no it couldn't be.
He yawned and then spoke. His voice was gruff but a bit mysterious.
"You there," He nodded in my direction, "You must be the new cell mate that got put in last night."
I gulped, "Yes, thats me."
I felt as if I needed to respect this man as much as possible.
"The names Devon Jacob Holiander, nice to meet 'cha." He held out his hand for me to shake it.
I took his hand and shook it, "Illias Mason Denotum."
"Hey, I've heard that name before somewhere," he said, "Do I know you from somewhere?"
"Uh, no I don't think so sir."
"Hey you don't gotta be formal with me. Sure, they used to call me boss back a few years but thats over now. I've changed my ways for good, I swear."
It then hit me that my suspicions were in fact, correct. My cell mate was my old gang boss.
I wasn't really sure what to do. Do I go out and tell him, "Hey! I'm that kid that fucked up and didn't do what you told me to and got myself killed 12 years ago!"? Or do I just sit back, forget about whats going on, and act like the past is in the past. Part of me wanted to be able to do the latter.
"Okay I lied." I said, relatively quickly.
"Lied about what?" Devon replied back, sounding a bit confused.
"I do know you."
"How?"
"I was told to kill a girl named Liris Lemming but I fucked up, and I killed her parents instead. You sentenced me to death. I'm back now cause there is in fact an afterlife and I'm a fucking demon." I almost shouted.
"NO, THERES NO WAY YOU COULD BE!" he yelled right back, "P-PROVE IT!"
The only thing I could do was change my form, but I wasn't sure if he meant for me to access 12 year old memories of that exact night and change to that, or show him me as a demon. I opted for both.
Changing willing to demon form isn't as hard as you'd think. A cool breeze, darkness, and a sense that someones watching you for about 30 seconds and then your just fine.
"See, I'm a fucking demon, are you happy!?"
I might have yelled a bit too close to his face.
He backup and threw a fist right at my face.
It fazed right through it. I guess switching to my shadow demon form can be useful sometimes. His fist hit the wall with a loud smack. There might have also been a crack, as his fist was bleeding from the punch.
"You little shit!" Devon yelled right at me and tried to punch again.
But this time, I was gone.
Slipping into UnderWorld is always fun. You know whats not fun? When your called to Haven.
I really don't know why demons can get called to Haven, but it's all in good fun and no harm.
The light is always really fucking bright for no reason. Like tone it down would ya? A girl with short blue hair stepped out of the light and took my hand,
"Sorry for calling you up here, but it's important I swear." she said, the light reflecting off of her sky blue eyes.
We ran right through the open gates for miles it seemed till I saw her. I saw Sara. She had large wings, the wingspan probably just under 6 foot, hanging down from her back. They were light pink and quite soft looking and fluffy.
"What am I doing here?," I asked, "and Sara? What are you doing here?"
Sara sighed, "Ifnie, I'm an angel. I know quite well that your a demon and what you've been up too."
"So why was I called up here?"
"Well, multiple reasons. One was because you needed to stop being a piece of shit. That jail isn't safe, even if you can't get hurt in your demon form. You don't need people knowing of demons existence, do you?"
"Uh no, I don't, but as you probably saw it's a bit late for that."
"Yeah I know. Now the other thing your up for is you have something to tell me."
I knew what she was talking about. Yeah yeah, I like Sara, so what? I would never get the courage to ask her out. I mean if she did she'd say yes but-
"Well are you going to do it or not?" said the blue haired girl from the corner. I just now noticed what she actually looked like. Her skin was the same color that mine was when I was in human form. Her blue hair was cut in bangs straight across her forehead, and it ended at her shoulders in an uneven line. Her shirt was short sleeved, and striped, with a bow in the middle of the shirt. Her skirt was a long skirt with a gradient between white, blue, and orange.
I took a deep breath, "I have a crush on you Sara."
It felt like something that a 15 year old would say, but it's all I could muster out.
"Oh Ifnie," she spoke, "I'm sorry but I don't return your feelings. I'm already in a relationship."
"With who?" I asked
"Marinelle here." she pointed to the blue haired girl. She waved at me. "Sorry Ifnie, but I'm gay."
And just like that I returned to the present. At first, I thought it was a dream. That it didn't happen. But it very much did. The fight was over and my cell mate wasn't in the cell. In fact, no one was in their cells. A paper inside my cell said "DANGEROUS PERSON IN CELL- DO NOT INTERACT."
Great. I'm now even more of a criminal than I really needed to be.
But now was my chance, so I might as well take it.
I slowly began to change into demon form. If I walked while in the process, I was invisible, and could basically go through anything.
I walked out of the cell.
I walked out of the prison.
I was on my way home.
