The voice echoed throughout the place. “Where is the light?” The bed he was in was quite cozy, he never felt anything like it before. “If this is my bedroom,” he thought, “then the light is over, there.” He grabbed and felt nothing. He jumped off the bed but there was no floor. He clenched the bed, legs dangling in the air. He was lost his grip, and fell.
Kami landed back in bed. The same cozy one as before but this time with a light. He looked to the left and there was no light. “Well well, we meet again, Kami Y~B~ Origami.”
He jerked his heat over to the right and there again was the owl. He listened closely. No hoot, but tiny, tiny voices of people saying help.
“Who are you. State your name, today's date and your business here. And how do you know my forbidden name?”
The light went towards the direction of the owl.
There was something-no someone there. But it was nothing. One look, you could see everything. Life, Death, anything you could name. Sweets, chips, houses, people, family, past future.
Now the thing Kami most for sure knew. He was looking at Comet. Comets real look.
“Welcome, to nothing, my world of fun.” Kami was horrified but held it in, he can't cry in front of it. “C-” he couldn't say the name.
“Ok so the ‘cozy’ bed you were sleeping on was your friends, I know everything, I can do everything, Congrats on escaping the time paradox, I was that one servant that killed your family, I left the money though so that is a plus for you, and yes?”
He turned and saw the faces of Lucas, Anthony, and Angie sewed onto his bed. Small help me's were coming from the bed. “Help them!” I looked unpleased, “excuse my manners, please.” I knew what he meant, but still didn't ask about Amy.
I blinked, they were back to normal. “Thank god!” I gave them a very interesting stare as I went into a sophisticated woman. Owl still on my arm. “I meant, Comet. Thank Comet. Any longer and you would have ran out of food. But where's Am-?”
“Never mind that. C-... just get us out of here.”
I blinked again as I left leaving them there. Kami having a grudge still against Amy. No more chips left. The three were saved. Starving to death. Nothing to do. She slowly went away waking up to the same spot. Without a bag of chips and Monday finally came. She felt lonely, for the first time. In 4 weeks and 5 days.
While Kami and the rest. Were in a place they couldn't leave. Everyone still had their powers, even Kami, but were useless here.
“Three, two, one,” everyone had a plan to yell ‘Comet!’ at nothing but I came before. “Yeah yeah, you wanna go out but I destroyed everything. Another big bang happened while you were hallucinating forever. No earth, no plants, no people, aliens, all gone. So there is no where to go but nowhere.” “A-” “All of it. Unless you can pay the price to get it back. Kami.”
They all looked at him. Stubborn as ever he already knew it had something to do with Amy. “Tell me your price, but chances of me refusing is high.” The rest hmphed as I stated, “You already know, but there is more.” “What do you mean more?” “I know everything Kami, you can't hide what you know.” Kami squinted at me trying to indicate that he wanted me to shut up, “Oh come on, you know everything, that one of you are missing, that Amy is still trapped with nothing you can do about it, AND that-” “Yeah I know, now tell me, the price already.”
Kami was trying so hard to cover up everything that happened. Everything that is going to happen.
I had the owl fly to him, a note dropped in his hand as the owl went back to me then sent away. ‘how well do you trust those, who keep a secret, just like you?’
He gasped trying to act surprised, he knew that this was gonna happen, a game of chess, with someone who's queen could go anywhere on the board.
“Don't pretend. I know that you are trying to cover up the fact that the one you torchered and beat to near death, was Allen. The last of the 6 of you.” He glared as if he were stuck in a corner and angry because he couldn't have the last cookie.
“Can we talk? Alone?” I nodded no because this was the price he had to pay.
Staying silent would only put a foot deeper in his mouth, but opening up was like pulling it out with his teeth.
He chose silence until a good enough time to rebuttal.
Letting the rest free was a terrible decision. He could have left them, fed Amy, and not be stuck right now.
“Before I speak,” the gang looked at him quite disturbed ready to jab knives at him, “I would like to ask a wish.”
“Wise choice there. And what will it be in return for a more hefty price?”
“To go back in time.”
“Congrats! Correct answer! Now let me see.” I pulled out some, of which you people call futuristic technology and worked with it. “Now that goes there and North is that way. And… done! There you guys go everything is back to normal. Almost.”
I left at the scene and returned them to their homes.
Kami, in his new, smaller house couldn't fall asleep, he still had his waiters, became only a millionaire, still had a perfect life, but couldn't fall asleep. Everyone he suffered with now hates him. But he must keep his secret. He did kill Allen, but no one noticed. He managed to escape with a handicap which no one else could. Should not he be praised for enduring so much? He wondered. Things were flying like fireworks in his head waiting to explode.
Amy is still stuck. He recapped all that happened.
“First I followed the person who gave the bag of chips everyday after finding they were about to run off. Second Amy was… I can't say. Third, Amy was catching onto my secret. Fourth I had to relive a lot of pain. Then I was stuck in a corner almost being forced to say it, then I… I asked for a wish! Maybe I could redo it!”
“C-!...” He tried saying my name but nothing came out. “O-m-... et.” I was the owl that has been watching him forever. I peck at the window because I was sitting outside. I felt I shouldn't do to much.
“Bring me back in time!”
“Why?”
“Because that was my wish.” He stared at me, “Remember you can do anything?”
He had a few times set on his mind so I helped him out and started at the second one. 3 weeks. When Amy asked why he isn't exhausted.
I set him on top of the building he works on. “Now there are a few rules that you must obey as return for setting you back. You must do everything the same except the few things you wish to change. Do not mention you come from the future. Act normal, any funny business and your very existence will be destroyed. Keep your damn contacts in, if they scratch you and make you go ‘wah wah’, I'll be sitting on the lamppost. Time is frozen right now, look down and see a thin version of you. Stand in that exact position or you might lose a limb or to. You can tell because the area is warm. Look at mine.”
I sat down in the exact position as the owl-me before was. “You ready? Also you should take this opportunity. Remember before you knew it was me you tamed the owl?” Smirking, I let time run again.
I let the heated ghost as a reminder to be in a certain spot stay so he could see what he did wrong.
He passed back and forth, he saw the ghost jump up and down like he did before. Instead he kept walking back and forth, “Ok, so the only things we have now are: Half a bag of chips, the owl, and my jumping. Oh! The paper! I forgot. Amy let me see that one paper.” He and his former self stopped and grabbed the paper, then continued with what they were doing. “It says, ‘do you trust those, who keep a secret, just like you?’ It’s plural which means first off, it is a group of people if this is even a clue. Now that man that is our only known food source.”
“How do you even have enough energy to still think? You gave me those disgusting chips the last 3 days.”
He remembered this but it came with an alteration. He quickly came up with an answer resulting in the best possible way.
“I can’t, but I need to get out of here regardless. Anyways, have you noticed any difference on our food deliverer?”
“Actually I have.”
“Tell me.” He said this even though he knew the answer.
“The ‘people’ delivering the chips are a girl about 12 ish, and two guys about 20 and 30.”
“Perfect!” He said with the exact assumption of Angie, Anthony, and Lucas.
“But, yesterday…”
“Yeah?” The words ‘and more’ finally made sense to Kami.
“There was someone else. Still a man, but very short curly hair unlike the rest. No face whatsoever. And walked through me instead of around. I thought he was a ghost.”
“Very peculiar.” He said aloud, then thought to himself, “Allen.”
“Hey Tomec!” Kami said directing towards me/the owl. He held his arm and I sat on it. He smirked happily, very happily, “Remember I said I tamed the owl? I named it Tomec.”
He done this because it is backwards for Comet then switching the vowels.
“Wow!”“Dumb move Kami.” “You're so cool!”
“No, rather I done that to see how useful it is, also, it came back earlier than expected and gave me the return note and a stamp with it.”
“Give me the note!” He thought directing a lot of attention towards me. I hooted aloud then silently, “look in your pocket.”
“Now where did I put it…?” He said that to buy some time looking around. “Here it is.”
Dear Origami,
I am greatly sorry to tell you by owl mail? that the Origami family doesn’t exist more.
A newly hired servant was an assassin murdered all of your bloodline.
They stole most of the money as well. Your father, he left you this.
It is a photo, and a stamp.
Kami sighed at having to read this note again. “It’s ok, men can cry too.” Amy said trying to relieve Kami. “I wanna see if his tears are golden too.” She thought with an after chuckle.
“Why did you chuckle?” Kami said with a disgusted tone, “Sorry, it was just a hiccup.”
She bounced around in abnormal times to cover up her giggle, then held her breath, yawned and stopped. “There gone. But really it's OK to-” “No.” Kami said interrupting her, “No.”
It stayed quiet for a while and then Kami thought towards me, “what now.”
I then replied speaking towards him and him only so Amy could not hear, “Wait. Unless you want me to spread up time, but too long and it might cost ya, you ain't going back.”
I hooted out loud it was now nighttime. Me and Kami were having a mainly one sided conversation all in his head about his family, himself. I already knew that so I just put out a tone with a sprinkle of sarcasm dust. “But you already know all of that because this was a one sided conversation.” He thought giving the conversation to a conclusion, “Now don't ya going off reading my mind now right?” “Yay,” he thought to himself even though I could still hear him. “I beat you!”
I stared at him, “you sound like a baby in your head, but a delinquent out loud.”
“Don't tell me what I already know.” He said that out loud on accident and Amy woke up. She saw him and the me looking at each other intensely, “what are you doing to that poor owl Kami?”
He looked around, “just talking.”
“I think you are going crazy Kami, you haven't eaten in days, you are going around burning to many calories thinking, and now talking to an owl? Tomec come here.” She said expecting me to move. I still sit on Kami’s arm. I shook my head no. “How does your arm not hurt holding Tomec?” She said about to lunge my way, “now it's my turn!” She jumped. I flew away. Kami put his arm down. I sat on the lamppost. “Come here Tomec.” Amy said with a cutesy voice patting her hands on her legs as if I were a dog. “Go,” Kami said to me, “I need my sleep anyways.”
Amy sat against the wall with her knees up. I sat on her right knee.
“Now tell me,” she said, “why is Kami so weird?”
I made a loud hoot scaring Amy a bit. I flew in the direction towards the glasses, “Stop.” Kami said aloud, “go back to Am-”
I stopped time. “Kami, your contacts. What did I tell you?” Kami gasped and found out that one fell out. He put it back in. “I will spare you this time since it fell out. Here have a new one. Also I'll go back a second so get ready.” Kami put the contact on. Blinked, blinked again. Ready.
Hoot, I flew off, “Stop. Go back to Amy.” I took a U-turn returning to her knee.
She waited this time until she knew for sure Kami had gone to bed. “Wow he is cool isn't he?” I shook ‘no.’
“Did he seriously train you to say that?” I shook ‘no’ again.
“So can we talk via yes or no questions?” I blinked. Waited. Then shook ‘yes.’
“Did Kami teach you that too?” ‘No’
“So basically you can talk.” I didn't move.
“Ok, since you can fly, do you know how to get us out of here.” Her voice dropped to a much lower pitch as Kami woke up. Pretending to sleep talk he said, “Four weeks,.. And. Five, days-.” He went back to “sleep” listening in on their part.
“Four weeks and five days? We were here for 4 weeks now. So does Kami know how to get out?” I hooted.
“So are we leaving in five days?” The owl stayed silent as Kami then said, “I think. I found a paper on the floor saying 4 weeks and 5 days while you were asleep. It was on the day the other food deliverer came. Also we haven't tried following them so in 5 days we go.”
“Do you know if it works?” Amy said.
I put Amy under a dizzy spell as she fell asleep fast. “Perfect, now go to sleep really, I know you haven't slept all 5 weeks and 5 days, I will watch you, don't worry I am not going to toy around with you. Come up with a better way to avoid getting caught up in a bigger mess.”
For the first time, Kami actually fell asleep. He had a dream, a nice dream, in a world without fear, for him, he ruled everything he took Comets place. Ruler of the universe. Of everything. He soon woke up in the middle of the day.
“Heesh you were asleep for 2 days. And Also me and Tomec are getting along, I thought Tomec to get us food. I hope.”
“Don't worry, I won't stick to the plan and no improvisions will be needed.”
“Hey Amy, can I try something?”
“Sure if it will help is get out of here.”
“Climb on. I'm giving you a piggyback ride.”
