I didn't like that island. I knew from the moment I bumped into that man everything that could go wrong, would go wrong. It became even more apparent to me that this island would be nothing but trouble when we got to the seamstress', as only men were in the shop, they glowered down at me as soon as they realised I was the opposite gender.
Drahgo had gotten Max to tie me to him so it was harder for me to get into trouble and so that we blended in easier. I had to use small signals to show the men the fabrics I required for their disguises and that way it looks like we aren't foreign to the country and have come from a different village. However, the men in the store did not like the fact I had been brought inside and demanded I leave.
This didn't sit well with either Max or Drahgo who claimed that due to the store not having a rule against it then I am required to accompany him into the shop so he can make sure I do not make any trouble whilst he was in the shop, though they didn't like it, nor did they like my hood they allowed me to be in the shop as long as I stayed silent and out the way. Though it made the shopping a lot more difficult we managed to get all we needed, though I couldn't help but feel threatened by everyone here, I don't quite understand the hatred toward the female race on this island but I can't exactly ask.
The longer we were there the worse the atmosphere got and I have a feeling the boys were purposely staying as long as they could to cause trouble though that uncomfortable sitting has nothing on what happened afterwards, to be honest, it was like rolling in flowers compared to when we were on the way back to the docks.
It was maybe a few hours after we had left the seamstress' shop, I was still tied uncomfortable to Drahgo and we were in a crowded, creepy, cramped part of the docks so I was tugged uncomfortably close to Drahgo who made me look like a small child with his sheer size. I felt like a small child too with how ignorant I was to the differences of the world I had been thrust into. We were trying to get back to the boat just so we didn't push our luck with the subpar disguises I had made.
because of the bustle of the crowd around us and the fact we weren't tied to each other Max had gotten separated from us almost instantly and the only reason I hadn't been shoved away was due to the rope though it was some form of help I still hated having to be tied to someone plus the rope was beginning to rub against my skin as Drahgo walked a lot faster than I could which meant that the rope was never slackened around my wrist. I could feel the rope rubbing the layers of skid down, I didn't have delicate soft hands like most girls due to the work I had to do to survive on my own but because I was so young when I had been left to fend for myself I hadn't exactly been able to eat things that'd help make me strong, I was rather malnourished by this point leaving my skin rather thin but callous.
It was in this rush of people that we were ambushed by a group of men from the previous shops, all large menacing and had a problem with me, naturally, there were at least 10 of these men surrounding us yelling profanities and insults, many began closing in leading to me getting as close as I could to Drahgo, many flashbacks of the angry villagers of my home flew through my mind as I instinctively gripped to him cowering now wanting to be hurt again purely for existing.
"What do ye want? We're tryin to get back to our companions, ye want us to leave right, well move and we will." Drahgo growled at them, he was strong but there was no way in hell he'd be able to fend off 10men as large as himself.
"That girl, why does she not speak. All women here speak, even the scared ones, they speak in witch tongue yet yours is silent. It is unnerving, make her talk, do anything but you don't leave until we know she isn't hiding anything," one man glowered, to me it was strange how my silence unnerved them, they could easily beat me down but in my silence, I scared them, and I soon understood why.
The women on this godforsaken island practised in the art of witchcraft and alchemy, the men knew nothing of what either does except the fact that if uncontrolled it is exceedingly dangerous to everything. The way they controlled it was having women not understand the power and answer to them before performing anything on a grand scale. My silence made them believe I had knowledge of the power women could wield and that it was a way for me to stand against the rules that were set,
"My daughter is mute. She is also partially blind due to a curse cast by her own mother. If she could speak she would but she has not the ability." Drahgo said with a sigh of seeming reluctance.
I bowed my head deeper and clung onto Drahgo a little more attempting to seem scared and apologetic,
"Seems like she's a scared little girl, but how can we know yer tellin' us da truth," A small baled headed male glowered,
"Yer gotta promise ya won't attack us or yell if we show yer, along with her blindness 'er heartless mother cursed her with odd coloured eyes," Drahgo spoke slowly and softly lifted his hand to pat my head making me flinch,
"show us," the first male growled, I shook my head fiercely, they shouldn't see, they'd treat me like the villagers, what was Drahgo thinking?
"c'mon sweat heart, they wouldn't dare attack ya, yer a victim in this," Drahgo's voice was soft but it also seemed impatient, so I slowly brought my hands to my hood and pulled it down my eyes closed,
"open yer eyes you stupid girl," an anxious growl came at me making me flinch, I opened my eyes slowly looking straight ahead a blank look in my eye trying not to register the brute like men in front of me, they all gasped in horror and a look of anger and fear flashed across their face, but it was not directed at me.
"How could a witch do such a thing to someone so young and fragile looking," A younger gentlemen that had pushed his way through the crowd of giant angered men, he seemed to be less fearful, like he knew nothing would happen. Like he knew who we were. I tugged at Drahgo's sleeve making it look like I was stumbling slightly, but he took the hint.
"Right, well yeh gentlemen have yer proof, now allow us to leave. We have places ta be," his voice was stern, no one should have fought against his stern words, but unfortunately, the gentleman tutted at us and closed in, it was like he was teasing us, we had to move now, we couldn't stay but I couldn't give up the rouse we had created.
As the men closed in Drahgo tugged me behind him, attempting to protect me, however, it just made it easier for them to separate us. Within minutes Drahgo was out of my sight and I stood stock still as if I were a statue, I should've just given up on trying to trick them because mere moments later I was shoved in a sack and dragged away. At this point in my terror I shrieked for Max and Drahgo and was whacked hard on the head, I heard the sneering voiced of the gentleman and the small bald man before my consciousness left me,
"I told master Danial it would not be difficult to find the girl,"
"Now we can use her to destroy whats left of those pirates, they shall hang for their crimes against his majesty,"
