One week. It's only been one week since with what happened that evening. Not much has really changed. None of us really discussed it with each other. The four of us kind of forgot about that day. Leo, on the other hand, was really confused on Monday at school. We were apparently acting strange. Dylan and I kept ourselves at a distance, but we were still good friends. The girls were still the girls. Of course nothing drastically was going to change in a week. Leo shrugged it off after a day or two and never questioned that Saturday again. We all lied to him about it, but I didn't enjoy doing it. I'm sorry Leo.
It was Friday, June 7th. Last day of school. The bell had rung and every student at GearWood high school left the campus as soon as they can. I met up with Leo and we headed off to a nearby McDonalds near by. I did't forget about his mother. I don't know whether or not I should tell him. So far she's kept her promise about last Saturday. I just don't like keeping secrets from Leo, but I have to. I think? I don't think I was paying attention much because when I zoned back in. Leo was calling my name.
"Henry? Hellllooo. Earth to Henry." He nudged me. The crosswalk was ringing.
"W..what? Oh. Sorry, I was just..."
"Just?" Leo wondered.
"It's just that we're seniors. Crazy...huh." The crosswalk was packed with students walking, but it was easy to get through.
"Henry are you alright?" After we crossed, he grabbed my shoulder. Leo turned me towards him as students push passed us. He seemed worried for me. I shrugged it off as we kept walking. He stopped asking questions right after.
Once we got to Mcdonalds, I found us a table as he went to order some food. To keep myself busy, I played some OG Tetris on my phone. However, Dylan interrupted me. I received a message from him as I was winning. Though I ended up losing it because of him. You ruined my game of Tetris dude. I texted back.
Oh, I'm truly sorry. Poor Henry lost his game of Tetris
Whatever, Y r u texting me?
Why* Are* You*
Don't be one of those Dylan
LOL, anyways I need to talk to you about something
About???
Before I could see what he sent back, Leo sat down. He wasn't paying attention either because he was texting someone also. I wondered who it was, but it's not my business to ask. I'm glad that school was over. It meant that Leo were able to hangout even more than ever. That's what I enjoyed about the summer. Before I met him, I didn't have any friends. When I met Leo, I didn't need anymore friends. Quality over quantity. Though, the girls and Dylan were a nice addition to our group.
Leo was silent even when he got food. The only time he spoke was when he asked if I was sure I wanted anything. I told him no and after that. Silence was back. That's when I had to say something. "Dude, why are you so quiet?"
"So the quiet one is asking why I'm quiet?" He raised his brow at me.
"So what?"
"This past week it just feels like I'm missing something. Ever since last weekend. Why aren't any of you telling me?"
"God, Leo. Nothing happened. We had some food that was it."
"You're lying."
"Why would you think I would be lying Leo? I'm telling you everything." I looked right at his eyes. He wasn't believing it."
"Because...Henry."
"Because what?"
"Because that's not what my mom told me."
Fuck.
"L...Leo. I fucking told her not to say anything." I slouched against my seat. Pissed about the fact she told him. I'm not surprised anyways.
"Henry, when she told me that she was dating some dude. That's when she brought up you..." He didn't look at me. Lately my friends and I seem to be getting into arguments only in restaurants. We were kind of whisper arguing, so that no one could hear us. "My mom told me what she saw. Why didn't you tell me. Why didn't any of you tell me?"
"I don't know. We just wanted to keep that day between the four of us. It's not a big deal."
"It kind of is! I should be told something at least. You're my friend Henry. I don't care if you're ga--"
"I'm not. That thing Dylan did was just a misunderstanding." I interrupted him. That's when my phone went off. He saw the name from the message. It was Dylan.
"If it was just a misunderstanding then why keep it a secret between the four of you guys. It just makes me feel left out that that happened. I'm your closest friend. I thought we didn't keep secrets."
"Y..you're right. It was wrong of me to keep it from you. Look, it's just not a big deal." My phone gets another notification from Dylan.
"You sure? Dylan seems to love texting you."
"Just...eat your burger Leo. We're nothing, but just friends."
"Whatever." Dylan says as he drinks his soda. He didn't say anything after that. Once he was done, he got up and left the place. I guess the person he was texting was his mom because she picked him up. He didn't even say bye. "I'll see you this weekend, Henry."
I felt like shit from what just happened. That's when I finally read Dylan's messages. Leo knows about Saturday. Did he talk to you about it? He seemed kind of mad about it.
Yeah Dylan, no shit. We just spoke about it
I'm sorry
It doesn't matter and stop saying that. It's getting annoying
Sorry
Fuck off
I turned off my phone, so I don't receive another message. I remembered something and I turn around towards the door to see if Leo was there. He wasn't. The asshole was my ride home. I'm sure he did that on purpose. I slammed my face onto the table and people looked at me when it happened. Why did I just do that?
"Is this seat taken?" a voice appears and I don't recognize it. I don't look up at first because I don't want to know who it is. I do anyways and it's Dylan. What the fuck?
"Dylan?"
"Ha...that's funny. Did you forget he has a twin brother?"
Right. I'm a mess right now. I can't believe I forgot. "Yeah, I definitely did." I mumbles. He laughed.
"Well...to refresh your memory." He cleared his throat and held out his hand. "Hey Henry. I'm Damien, nice to meet you."
