Not far away, deep into a jungle, a group of archaeologists kept reaching deeper into an old temple, looking for the treasure of an ancient civilization long lost, long forgotten.
-Are we near? -The youngest of the archaeologists, the leader’s daughter, she was young girl as beautiful as sunshine, taller than many people because of her breed, even at her young age she was very smart, tanned by all the time spent in worldwide expeditions with her father.
-We are already here. -The guide in charge, the young girl’s father showed a huge room, the place was bigger than a typical house, illuminated only by crystal pillars that ran along most of the room, each reflecting its light toward a small shard into the center of the room.
-That's all? -Angel, the girl’s best friend was annoyed, he was brought here from the very morning and ignored the whole way until they reached.
The girl shut him up.
-This is the relic that kept this civilization going for so long, and yet, it is said to have caused his demise. -Crystals father Jaeson made a pause analyzing the room. -Also it is the same keeping these ruins still on foot, if we don't take it correctly, everything will fall apart...right above us. -Jaeson was Crystals father, an experienced archaeologist and their guide, he was a strong and smart man barely on his 40's, also he was the one that brought the expedition team, he was smart enough to foresee anything that could come to happen just by being there, yet, he still was supposed to die in this very temple, and in this very event, so his body would be of use to someone else. Even if he knew what would happen and did anything about this action of destiny or lack of luck as he would say, this wasn't the only event causing the start of this new era, nonetheless lacked of importance though, as it would define the path it was about to take.
Meanwhile, they would just have to keep relying on what could happen.
Jaeson reached towards the small shiny shard, as he kept walking nearer, he could see its resemblance to a manticore, more than a hydra as legend told , and every step he took got him nearer to get it. Crystal following her father steps.
-Is it safe? -Young crystal was impatient; she walked over her father steps, rushing after them, before a stone triggered her walking.
Her legs making her fall over her father and stopping such awful events, for now.
-Are you okay?
Angel ran after them.
-We are okay, take the crystal.
Both father and daughter got carefully up and cleaned themselves before getting to Angel, who was still trying to think how to take the small shard without triggering any trap.
-Just take it already would you?
And so, with a swift move, crystal had the shard already in her hands, shadows started running all around her, dragging her towards the floor only leaving a white noise running around the temple before it started filling with water.
