The monster started to creep towards Elijah. In return he slowly shuffled back. This monster didn't seem strong compared to the one that attacked him before but it still looked scary. It started to glitch like a broken television then it disappeared not to be seen. Elijah scanned the environment carefully but it was impossible to see it. 'Invisible, huh?' A voice in his head spoke to him. It sounded very familiar. It resembled the boy in his dream.
"Have we met?" Elijah questioned for reassurance.
"We have silly" The voice responded whilst laughing. Elijah realised that to everyone else he looked insane talking to himself but now he didn't really care as if he did he might end up dead.
"Why are you still here?" He asked the boy.
"Why? Because I am apart of you now"
"Can I get rid of you?"
"Only if you die" The voice shot back. It sounded morbid but realistic. He didn't care about the fact that there was a monster on the loose in fact that had completely slipped his mind. Until he heard footsteps. His eyes flashed to the position where the sound was emanating.
"If it was invisible wouldn't I be able to see its shadow?" Elijah asked the boy.
"It is not so much invisibility as much as letting the light pass through it so that way there is no reflection and you can't see it or its shadow" Elijah could hear voices in the room behind him. Everyone was packing up. They had all forgotten him. He saw Alex, Derek, Emily and Mr. Crossby. He called out to him saying that he had given up but no one moved. He tried his best to scream to them but no one moved an inch it was like when you have a nightmare where no one can hear you only this nightmare was real. In desperation he waved his arms to try and make them notice him but they just looked at him.
He felt cold. It was getting colder and colder rapidly. Elijah thought to himself 'Is there an air conditioner on or what?'
"No look at your stomach" The boy responded. Elijah looked down slowly to see a claw pierced through him. Blood was dripping and Elijah suddenly felt enough pain to make him throw up. The claw retracted and he fell to the ground. He turned to see the monster that he was supposed to fight looking at him. It had eyes full of joy. It was having fun hunting him. Elijah felt scared these new emotions weren't helping him but his fear was nothing compared to the day before when he was attacked. He felt a jolt of energy run through him and then almost simultaneously he no longer felt the pain. He looked at his stomach and there was a black patch where the hole was. the mark on his chest was no longer glowing but beaming. It was visible through his shirt and it was spreading.
"Think of a weapon" The boy suggested. Elijah didn't have time for a conversation so instead he just did as it suggested. He didn't want to get close to it and he didn't want to miss it from far away.
'I know I will use that' He though again there was a rush through his body but this time it went to his hands. He looked and black mist emitted itself from both his palms. It started to form something in his hands and then there was a glaive was summoned into his hands. It had a black pole and a white blade that had a red ribbon flowing down from where the blade and pole connected. It wasn't light but wasn't heavy it was balanced by a ball at the opposite side and it had a carving. It looked like and ancient language and from the looks of it it was in Aztec if Elijah remembered his history classes right that is. He held it awkwardly then ran at the monster. It charged at him but seemed slow. Thee monster moved slower and slower until it seemed like it was barely moving. He tapped it with the back of the glaive and it was sent flying into the wall Elijah felt like he was having fun no not felt like he WAS having fun. It yelped and got onto all fours and tried to limp away. It looked at Elijah then tried to turn invisible. It had succeeded but Elijah wasn't done yet. More he wanted to have more fun. His vision went funny and he could see grey except where the monster was it was a bright red. Elijah charged at it and pierced its head. He kept stabbing it and stabbing it until the speaker went off.
"Elijah Westfield, you have passed" Elijah immediately snapped out of his frenzy to see his clothes drenched in blood and blood splatters on his face. He looked up towards the spectator box to see only Mr. Crossby who had a grin on his face that stretched from on ear to the other. It was at this moment that Elijah knew Mr. Crossby had his eyes on him not from just then but from the beginning. He wiped his faced and grabbed his glaive which dispersed back into mist and washed into his body.
Elijah made his way into the changing rooms where he changed into a uniform provided by the school. He proceeded out to where the students had gathered to leave and Mr. Crossby walked in. Okay well done to those of you who have passed. The rest of you come see me after this for the punishment. Also since so little passed they are all top of the class and will receive the special reward. Elijah walked out with Emily by his side. He had sub-consciously accepted her but for some reason it didn't bother him. He was lost in thought thinking about his match. He felt tapping on his shoulder and looked over to see Emily looking at him concerned.
"What kind of training is this" she asked Elijah shrugged as he did not know himself.
"By the way how did you go? Did you get hurt?" she nagged.
"I thought you saw my match" he responded.|
"Mr. Crossby wouldn't let me" she said.
"Did something interesting happen?" she continued.
"No" Elijah decided it was best if the others didn't know. He didn't want the attention and he knew that it wasn't going to be good attention anyway.
The bell rung for school to end and Emily walked away waving while saying.
"Sorry, I have to be somewhere today" Elijah just waved back and walked home. He encountered the spot where he had his fight and looked at it intently for a while. Then when he turned to continue his walk home the boy from his dream stood in front of him grinning.
