The inauguration ceremony started early in the morning. The monks sat on the stage waiting for me to arrive. A man with a scruffy white beard and a long red draped robe is awaiting me. I'm assuming that is Chief is at the far front of the elevated stage, awaiting my arrival.
"Hello, Yasu. Congratulations on unlocking your Third eye. As per tradition, we will mark your face with the word of the strongest emotion you felt when you left the room."
I started to kneel with one foot and look at the floor. He brought out red paint and started applying said paint with his finger. I was not sure what he was painting on my face, but I guess I'll find out.
"I have marked your face with the Chinese character of "Jǐng". It means to awaken. When the monks and I went to inspect the reawakening chamber, the walls were covered in gold plating. This is a very rare occurrence, and only happens if you failed once but were able to overcome your now stronger inner self while remaining completely calm and collected."
Another monk interjects.
"We have noticed that your Third eye is stronger than usual. The pupil colour is yellow instead of blue. If you stay on your training, you can easily become the strongest person in this temple."
Chief says, "Yes, we have watched your journey from when you first stumbled in here as a brash and unmotivated teenager. We have watched you blossom into a strong, dedicated and calm young adult. We have no doubt that you will do great things here at the temple."
They bestow upon me a silken, black robe with a white belt. The right sleeve of the robe is non-existent, leaving my right arm completely unprotected. On the back of the robe, there was a blue dragon being swallowed by a red dragon in a perpetuating circle.
Before Chief hands the robe to me, he says "The blue dragon represents your old soul, or your inner self-being destroyed. The red dragon represents your new soul, or your inner self-being reborn. We rarely hand out this robe, and only one other person has ever received this. He left long ago."
"Thank you for giving me this. This is an honour that I never imagined I would attain at my time in the temple."
"What are you going to do now, Yasu? Are you going to stay with us and train?"
"The only thing I can do. Avenge my master."
"But, Yasu.."
"They are mountain raiders, correct? They were able to come here meaning they know the layout of this place and the surrounding mountains. I'm sure if I search hard around here I might be able to~"
Chief interrupts, his face scrunched with anger. "You cannot resort to revenge, Yasu! That is not the way of the monks here at this temple. We will not allow you to resort to violence in order to solve your problems!"
Chief extends his right fist and retracts his left fist. He widens his feet. His stance looks intimidating, he looks unmovable. He doesn't usually resort to violence but I can tell from that stance he is ready to put me down if need be. There are no clear blind spots. At least at first glance. When I look closer I see that his right leg is not as extended outward as his left leg. I know I can exploit this somehow.
"Chief I need you to tell me more information about these thugs."
"I will not allow you to exact revenge on them!"
Chief reveals his Third Eye. I had no idea you could conceal the Third Eye. As his Third Eye is revealing itself as his whole body starts straining. His regular pupils and irises start turning white. His muscle mass starts increasing, Chief's forearms look like their about to explode. Chief's head looks like their veins are about to pop out. His whole body is enormous. It would make a bear cower in fear. His Third Eye has now fully revealed itself and the pupil is red.
"My Third Eye's pupil represents rage. I was furious after I failed my first attempt, so much so that I completely ignored the pain backlash of the meditation and immediately tried again. After I beat my inner self, the room was extremely hot and red. This Third Eye gives me immense strength... but I have this grotesque form. Hence why I don't usually have it... enabled"
"I will be forced to fight you, Chief if you do not give me the information."
"Chief he is just a kid..."
"Don't fight him..."
Chief starts shouting at all of the monks. "He needs to learn a lesson about respect!"
Chief starts rampaging towards me. Every step he takes starts shaking the entire floor, the monks are struggling to find their balance in this chaos. My whole body is vibrating from the thundering impacts he leaves with each step. If I let him hit me head on I will surely be knocked out, I need to be careful of that. Luckily, he sacrificed speed for power and his stance is completely out of balance. I could use this to my advantage.
When he runs towards me, he attempts to punch me. I duck underneath his fist. The impact from his fist alone destroyed most of the floor behind me, and the pressure from the air almost made me fall. Forget getting knocked out, ill die if I don't do something soon!
I deliver an uppercut to his chin, staggering him for a few seconds. I jump back all the way to the wall and run back to his stomach with my left leg above the floor and my right leg extended outwards, ready to hit him with it. When I hit his abdomen with my leg, he starts coughing out blood. He kneels down and grips his stomach. Chief looks so pathetic like that.
"How... your eye can't possibly be this strong."
"No wonder you became chief. You're insanely strong. But the strength is all you have. You clearly haven't trained your mind."
"Why you.. like you can lecture me.."
Chief starts running towards me with both of his arms extended backwards. He looks like a monster. When he reaches me, he attempts to crush me by throwing his once extended fists towards me. I jump up high in the air, getting ready for a diving swan kick. The impact leaves a huge crater in the floor and causes an air slice so strong that blows the rest of the monks away, the monks that were trained with a stance that makes them immovable. As he is looking around for me, he looks above him and is met with my foot. I kick him down to the ground, and he is now lying down. When he is knocked down, I sit on his chest and start pounding him with my fists. Each fist I rain down on his face leaves a new mark on his face. I feel my fists penetrate more of his skin with each hit, and I hear a new bone crack with each fist I destroy him with. The impacts from each fist are destroying the floor below his head.
"Stop, Yasu! He is out."
All of the monks descend on me and pull me off of him. His face is completely unrecognizable with all that red on him. I think I made his face look more handsome than his grotesque features before. I shrug them off and pull one aside from the crowd.
"Where are the bandits?"
"We can't tell you.. think about this.."
I start getting angry, he knows the kind of power I wield, I beat his master! Yet he is still not giving me any information. I begin to scream at him. "Do you want to end up like your Master?!?!" I point my Third Eye towards him.
Everyone starts looking at me. The fear in their faces is priceless.
"Uh, the mountain ban-bandits are probably co-located around"
Hahaha. The expression on his face is priceless. "Speak faster!"
"They are likely still around the mountains, planning out another raid to the temple. You can probably find their hideout if you search around this area"
I get up. If they really are nearby, then I can avenge my master's death.
"I'm off."
"I hope you know that you're not welcome here until you change your ways!"
All of the monks give me strange looks, one of them squints their eyes at me. I'm clearly not wanted here anymore.
"I don't need you fools."
