Once we got to the swim facility, we rushed, grabbed our equipment and raced inside. We threw our bags into the lockers and quickly changed, then raced out to the deck and found Coach Jen glaring at us with her arms crossed. “You two are late! Also, where's your brother!” She shouted. I shrugged then we scrambled to our lanes. I had no idea where Ethan was, probably goofing around with Leo. A few minutes later Ethan came in with Leo, laughing about something, I rolled my eyes as I heard Coach Jen scolding them. After practice I went home with Ethan, Mom greeted us at the front door. I sighed once I entered our house, Mom had made turkey, and I was starving, I rushed inside and grabbed a plate. I waved to Dad, who was on his computer, probably working, he smiled up at me. “Hey, Ellie, how was practice?” “Fine.” I answered, I didn’t mention anything about us being late, otherwise they’d be pissed, both of them had swum when they were younger and we pretty good, they expected the same with Ethan and I. After dinner, I helped clean up, then started heading up the stairs. “Ellie!” Mom called. “Did you pack everything for school tomorrow, make sure you’re prepared, it is your first day.” I stopped, dang, I totally forgot, I rushed back down stuffing folders, pencils, pens, and notebook into my bookbag. I sighed, I didn’t want to go back to school, summer was so much better. Once I was done I went to my room and collapsed on my bed putting headphones on and listened to some upbeat song. Just as soon as I put them on I heard a knock on my door, oh come on! I took the headphones off and sat up. “Come in!” I called. The door opened a crack, light pouring into my dark room, Ethan peered in, his hazel hair flopped to one side. “Night Ellie.” He said then closed the door, seriously that’s what he interrupted me for! I shook my head, he did this almost every night, it was irritating, but he was a good brother, the best, even though he could be seriously annoying at times. I laid back down, putting the headphones back on. I stared up at the ceiling, and eventually, I fell asleep.
