It had been about a week in of the same pattern. Sometime Harry would get to skinny, other times he was his normal too skinny. Draco couldn't help be feel upset with himself. He'd always made fun of Harry, thinking that life at home was perfect for him. Never would he have thought that is was THIS bad.
Harry and Draco were walking to his fourth period when Harry suddenly dropped to the ground in pain. Casting a quick silencing spell around the boy, Draco picked Harry up and headed for the nearest bathroom. This was normal for them somehow. Luckily, the bathroom was empty so all Draco had to do was lock the door and set Harry down on the floor. Other times they'd hide in the nearest stall with a silencing spell.
Draco watched in horror as Harry let out muffled cries, holding his mouth shut with his hands. All this treatment and the boy wasn't even allowed to cry? Torture chambers were nicer than that. Draco started to rub Harry's back as he did sometimes, just trying to sooth the pain. this time, his hand was met with a slick substance. A red stain covered the back of Harry's shirt. "No way." Draco said in horror. He scooped Harry up in his arms and ran for Madam Pomfrey.
Draco ignored the stares he got as he bolted down the halls. he knew that his robes were probably destroyed, but he didn't care. He just ran.
"Madam Pomfrey!" He yelled as he walked into the hospital wing. "Yes, what is- oh! Bring him here, quick." She gestured to an empty bed near her. Draco set the boy down. "Dwaco- it hurts." Harry whispered. "Yeah, I know. Madam Pomfery's gonna try to help."
"Draco, you can go." He nodded, but just sat on the bed next to Harry.
"Harry dear, I'm gonna need you to take your shirt off." She said. She ended up helping the boy with his shirt though. She gasped at the sight.
Across Harry's back was a huge gash. "How did this happen?" She asked. Harry just shook his head. "Harry, you have to tell me." "I'm not allowed to talk abwout it." He said. This is when Draco stepped in.
"Harry, I know you don't want to talk about it. But if you don't tell her, then she can't help you and that would be bad." Harry looked at Draco. "Is Dwaco sad if I don't tell?" Draco did a laughy breath. "Yes. You could say that. So will you tell?" After a moment Harry turned back to the nurse.
"Aunty was teaching me how to cook today. She tokd me what I needed to do but, I acidently burnt the pancakes. Uncle had been deicing the sausages and he got weally mad. I turned awound so he would hit my bawck. He hit me with the knife."
Madam Pomfrey didn't look surprised, she just looked like she might cry. "I-I'm gonna get a potion from my office for you." She walked off. Draco saw her lack of surprise. "Harry, I'll be right back, I need to go ask the nurse a quetion, okay?" Harry nodded.
Draco walked into the nurses office to find her crying. "Oh! Malfoy. I was just-" she sniffed and whiped her eyes. Draco spoke. "You knew about this didn't you?" She nodded. "In his first year, I saw his scars. They were terrible. He made me wizard swear not to tell." "How did he know what a wizard swear was?" Draco asked. "Apparently, Granger and Weasly were talking about it." Draco shook his head and sighed. The nurse continued on. "I thought seeing those scars was the wrost thing, but I have come to realize that now I will have to numb every one. That's all I can do. I didn't treat him when he first got his scars so I can't treat him now. All I can do is, numb the pain." She said, almost breaking into tears again.
Draco just stood there, taking it all in. Then he just walked out and sat down next to Harry.
"Dwaco, are you okay?" He asked. Draco shook his head, snaping himself out of his daze. He smiled at Harry. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Harry was told to sleep in the Hospital wing until it healed and was given heavy doses of pain reliever potions. Draco laid down on the bed he had sat on and fell asleep. The nurse just sighed
He didn't even know when it happened, but at sometime in the night Harry decided the room was to dark or something because he had crawled into bed with Draco.
The Madam Pomfrey walked in and chuckled at the two. Draco was spread out on the bed like a star and Harry was curled up on his side, using the blonde's stomach as a pillow.
After Draco woke up to his little surprise, he made Harry go back to his own bed.
"But, my bed's all red and sticky." He said. Draco looked at the bed, seeing the blood stained sheets he cast a spell to clean up the mess and change the sheets. "Now, you can go back to your bed. You need to rest, okay?" Draco said. "But, Uncle Vernon said I had to cwean dhe windows." Harry said, still very drowsy.
"Harry, can I see your scar?" Draco asked. The little boy turned around so Draco could see his back. It was still pretty bad. It was scabbed over, but looked like at had a few more days to fully heal. should be good by the end of the day then. Dursley made this 4 year old boy clean the windows like this? Draco thought.
They spent the rest of the day in the hospital wing. By the time they were allowed to leave it was dinner. "Dwaco. I'm hungry." Harry said getting out of the bed. Draco looked at Harry. He could see the boy's ribs again. "I'd bet." They walked down to the Great Hall together, laughing and making jokes.
