The whistle blew loudly, notifying everyone that it was leaving the station. Draco sat in a crowed car with his friends.
Blaize and Pansy sat on either side of him, and Harry was playing at his feet. Hermione sat across from Pansy and gossiped with her eagerly. Ron and Blaize were getting along well to. Really well. Draco cast a glace at them.
Blaize wore a devilish smirk and Ron's face matched his hair in color.
Draco let out a quiet chuckle. He'd known Blaize was gay for years, but he couldn't help but wonder if Weasly was too. He wouldn't doubt it.
Neville and Luna found a car to themselves, which made Draco happy. He didn't think everyone would fit.
As everyone chatted away happily, Draco just stared down at Harry would was playing with some toy knights, a princess, a small castle, and a rubber snake.
"Haha! You're trapped now. No one can get past my great big snake." The princess yelled. One of the two knights were was trapped in the castle and the other was set off the the side. The princess stood on top of the castle. Draco was honestly curious on what was going on in Harry's mind.
The other knights came up to the snake. "I'll stop you!" Harry had it yell. The snake talked back, but Draco didn't know what because Harry had said it in parseltongue. The strange lauguage made Draco chuckle. He liked the sound and couldn't help but smile as little Harry swiched back and forth between the snake lauguage and normal english. Suddenly the snake lunged at the knight, but the knight was ready. The plastic sword stabbed at the roof of the snake's mouth. Draco raised an eyebrow. That is one way to kill a huge snake, but where did Harry get an idea like that?
The princess cried out a long "Noooooooooo!" And fell off the castle. Both the knights cheered and the knight saved the other. "Thank you." "You're welcome. Let's get married." "Okay." They said. "And they lived Happily ever after." Harry cheered to himself to find that everyone had been rather intrigued with the story that he'd been playing out.
Hermione chuckled and ruffled Harry's naturally disastrous hair. "Good job Harry. What are the knights names?" Harry hummed in thought as he looked at the toys. This one is Sir.Hadrian!" He said, holding up the hero knight. Ron chuckled. "Okay, what about the other one?" "Hmm... oh I know! Sir.Malfoy!" He blurted out, making Draco almost choke on the chocolate frog he'd bought.
Blaize and Pansy just laughed as Draco stuggled to regain his composure. Ron chuckled too, and continued on once Draco was okay. "Why did you use that name?" Harry shrugged. "I don't know. I remember hearing it once. I can't remeber who's name it was, but I really like it. I think Malfoy is a pretty name, don't you?"
Harry had a innocent grin on his face. Ron was stunned and Draco's face turned beat red. He coughed. "So, when we get to the station you'll all just ride with me correct?" Asked, desperate to change the subject. Hermione caught his drift. "That's the plan. I must say, it'll be nice not being alone for Christmas." She said, sighing sadly. Harry looked up at her. Hermione looked sad, so he stood up and held out Sir, Hadrian. "Why are you sad? You can play with my knite if you want." Hermione laughed a little. "No it's okay. Thank you though." Draco was confused. "Wait so why would you be alone? What about your parents?" He asked
Hermione sighed again. "During the war, I had to obliviate all memory of me from their minds. It was the only way I knew they'd be safe. " She explained. Draco nodded understandingly. "I see."
A silence filled the cart when Harry started jumping up and down out of nowhere. "Draco! Draco! Guess what!" He yelled excitedly. That same moment, the train slowed to a stop, knocking Harry off his balance. The young boy flew face first into Draco chest and landed with a thud.
"Oops, sorry." He said embarrassed. Draco laughed. "It's alright kid. What's got you all excited?" He asked. Harry looked at him a moment before his face lit up the the realization. He had actually forgotten? "Oh yeah. I'm gonna be 10 years old tomorrow! Well, sort of. You know!" He jumped up and down excitedly. Ron looked and the blonde questioningly, obviously asking for a translation. "He's gonna turn 10 in about and hour." Draco explained.
Pansy and Hermione smiled at each other. "Hey Darco, why don't we take Harry and you could go get him a proper present this time." Hermione said.
Draco shook his head. "What do you mean? I've never gotten the kid a thing for his birthdays." He said.
Pansy gave a mischievous smirk. "Sure you don't. We see you sneaking Harry extra sweets and deserts on his birthdays. Last time, we watched you take harry down to the lake with your pockets stuffed to the brim with candies and such."
A light shade of pink dusted Draco's cheeks as Harry looked up at him confused. "I honestly don't know what you're talking about." he claimed stubbornly. Pansy just nodded and took Harry's free hand. (The other was clinging to Draco.) "Come on Harry, let's go eat. Draco has stuff he needs to do okay?" "b-but." Harry whined and looked at Draco. The blonde sighed reluctantly and waved Harry toward him. "Come here."
Draco bent down to whisper into Harry's ear. "I've got to go christmas shopping okay? You've got to keep these guys busy for me so they don't ruin the surprise. I'll be back as soon as I'm done. Is that alright?" Harry gasped and nodded excitedly when Draco suddenly remembered. "Oh! And if you start hurting really bad, go to a bathroom and say Advocabit Draco, Okay?" Harry nodded again, repeating the words quietly.
Draco split off from the group and headed toward the mall while the others looked for a place to eat.
Draco waked through the mall aimlessly. It was true that he liked to give Harry a little something for his birthdays, but he'd hoped no one had noticed. What does the mini git even like? "Lets see." Draco said, talking to himself. "I know he's not the biggest reader, but may I could get him a book. But any book I could get him he'd just grow out of in a few months or wouldn't be able to read." he sighed and continued walking.
He did end up buying Christmas presents like he promised, but Draco still didn't have one for Harry. Or for Harry's birthday, which must be passed for him by now. That is how Draco had gotten way with giving Harry stuff on his birthdays, he waited a few hours until the day was over for the boy. After one last begging glance, Draco sighed and walked toward the mall doors.
