A wizard named Destiny walks through a street of townhouses to her Saturday history class. She pauses in front of house 8 because of the wet floor sign on the lawn. Taped to the front is a rental ad for two roommates at $200 a month. Applicants must be magicians attending MIM (the Makino Institute of Magic). Destiny, a MIM student that lives an hour from school and has a job, smiles.

The front door opens and a small girl walks out. She has two silver braids that reach her hips and grey patterns across her skin. She locks the door then freezes at the sight of Destiny. "May I help you?" Destiny doesn't move as she steps down the wooden porch steps and past the sunflowers her height. "Are you lost?"

"Lost?" She blinks out of her state. "Oh, no— Um—" She yanks out her earbuds. "The sign," she points at it, "I want to know more about the roommate position. I don't think this is a good place to speak, though. Also, I kinda have a class to get to."

"Is it Witchcraft in Europe after the Middle Ages with Dr. Kamiński?"

"How do you—?"

"I'm in that class," she chuckles and starts walking down the sidewalk. Destiny dashes to join her. "You sit at the front while I sit at the back. You get a good view of the board at the front, but not of your surroundings. Ain't that right, Ms. Destiny Schaeffer of one of Germany's top families?"

Destiny gulps.

"A lot of people at school talk about the scholar wizard from Europe. Is it true that you've never gotten a mark below 85%?"

"I-I think so... Yeah..." 

"Amazing! I did a quick search and found your family's sustainable retail company. I also saw your mom who's a member of the Cabinet and completely human. Hm, it's quite rare for two normies to give birth to a magician as talented as you. Let me guess: you're a wizard with the spell books and potions and stuff?"

"Who the heck are you?" She stares at the thirteen-year-old looking girl beside her. 

"Maggie Domingo, one of a few thousand sorcerers in the world." She stops walking. "You get magic from spells while I am magic. Nice to meet you," she grins and holds out her hand. Destiny shakes it.
