"How?" John asked, barely getting his words out. He felt like his insides were made into a smoothie. "What do I keep telling you?" Parker responded, pulling his jacket aside to reveal a vest, "Always wear a bulletproof vest." John fell back down, exhausted, disappointed in himself. He started laughing "Come on let me help you up." He stretched his hand out to his partner. John breathed a sigh of relief as he took his partners hand. As Parker tried lifting John up, John winced in pain. Parker put his arm over his shoulders and he pulled out his walkie. "This is agent Hay, agent Smith has taken down the perp. We'll wait here for back up." He said, trying to walk over to a spot where they can sit.
"Roger that agent Hay." "Where'd you shoot him at?" John asked, genuinely curious. "Between his shoulder and his neck. I need to get a rag and stop the bleeding or he'll die." Parker sat John against one of the air conditioning units. He started getting a rag out of his jacket and pressed it against the wound. "Why save him? He tried to kill you." John whispered. "You know, there's a quote I've gone by my whole life." Parker said, still busy. "What's that?" John said, starting to get his sight back. "Be the change you want to see in the world." He said turning his head halfway, and smiled at John, then turned back.
"There, that should do it. I was listening to what he told you. Regardless of what he said, I think some one hired him to kill Marus." They heard a childish giggle. Then it turned into giddy laughter. "Probably! Not a lot of people like that mean old grump!" They heard a voice giggle. The turn to see Red sitting on the ledge, how hood was down and his obsidian hair moved with the breeze. "How the hell did you get up here?" Said John, finally starting to sit up more. "I climbed." Red said matter-of-factly. "You...climbed?" Asked John confused. Red stood on the ledge and started walking toward them with his arms out, like a kid on a balance beam. "I heard a bunch of commotion and saw you guys! So I climbed." Red said.
Parker stood and looked at Red. "Red, did you hire the assassin?" He asked, with a hint of curiosity. Red smiled a mischievous smile. He jumped on top of the box John was leaning against, turned and sat on it in a criss cross position. "Why do you always assume its me? I don't have anything against Marus. He's not in MY way. It was probably someone else on his looooo" at this point he was leaning back, "oooong list of enemies! I dunno, do whatever." He stood and jumped off the air conditioning box and started walking toward the door. "But don't worry! You'll be seeing me again soon!" He shut the door. The second it shut, it opened again as a whole group of swat came up and arrested Chris. Parker sighed. "It's not even noon yet."
