Parker woke up drenched in sweat. 'Another nightmare' he thought. They were all the same. The Chief would tell him to do something, though for some reason couldn't hear it, then he would go to a different place every time. Sometimes a building, sometimes a bunker, even apartments. Him and John would go in, search the place for stuff, papers, parts to machines, sometimes even people, and would kill anyone that stood in their way. Then after they would bring it back to the boss. After they would suddenly be stuck with needles and tubes. Then they would be put in something, like a machine? He didn't know. After that would be the pain in his head. Excruciating pain. It didn't make any sense. He needed to go for a walk.
-
After getting dressed in a t shirt and sweat pants, he stepped out of his room into the halls of the agency. He took a few laps around the agency. It didn't make much sense. These dreams...they were so vivid. Almost like...
He decided it wasn't important. He decided to take the elevator down to the prison area. He had to talk to Darkrye.
-
When he got there, he started to walk down the hall with prisoners on both sides of him. Reminded him a lot of the beginning scene from Silence Of The Lambs. "Hey, I know you." He stopped and looked to the left. It was Hunter. "You're one of the twerps that locked me up." He growled, his face squeezed in between the bars. "Who hired you to kill Marus?" Parker asked. "You think I'm gonna tell you anything? You're out if your damn mind!" He laughed in his gruff laugh. "You just wake up out of bed agent? Why the hell are you dressed like that?" Parker just looked down and looked back up. He walked up to him, grabbed the back of his neck, and slammed his face hard against the bars. Hunter screamed in pain as Parker walked away. "What the hell was that for!" He screamed in anger. Parker didn't even stop or look at him. "For hurting my friend."
-
He finally made it to Darkrye's cell. He was at the end of the hall. He pulled up the metal chair against the wall and sat down. Darkrye was sleeping in the bed. "Can skeletons even sleep?" Parker asked with a smirk. "No but we can try to get some peace and quiet. The hell do you want?" He sat up. "I know you weren't driving the tank. I also know that you're hiding something. If you tell me I can get you out of here." Parker said. Darkrye sighed. He stood up and walked up to the bars and crouched so he was at the same place as Parker.
"The government isn't as squeaky clean as you think it is." He started. "A few years ago, they wanted to make the perfect soldier. One that couldn't die. They tried it on me and my men. Our skin melted. Our organs started rotting. Everything was falling away. I thought I was going to die. I passed out. When I woke I was this. We couldn't die. They tried to make us fight but something happened."
He had to stop for a second. If he had eyes you'd think he was crying. Then after a minute, he continued. "The others turned insane. They couldn't handle the reality of what happened to them. We ran. We wouldn't let them use us like weapons. The government funded all of it, your agency, funded all of it." He finished. "Thats why I attacked that kid. I've seen him." Parker froze. He started an annoying tick he had where he chewed his finger nails off one by one. He does it when he's thinking or nervous or even scared. "When?" He asked. "I can't remember." He said, lighting another cigarette. Parker laughed. "Aren't those bad for your lungs?" He asked. Darkrye looked at him and laughed a hearty laugh. A real likable laugh. "I don't have any lungs." He did what looked like a smile as he stood. "I think we're gonna be good friends." He said. Parker smiled as he stood as well. "I'll get you out of here in the morning. But on one condition." He said. "Name it." Darkrye said, walking toward his bed. "You work with me and John on cases." He said, smirking. Darkrye laughed, "and what makes you think I'll do that?" He asked. Parker had a big grin on his face. "You don't have much of a choice it seems." Before he could respond, Parker was gone.
-
Parker was walking along the halls. Trying to soak in everything. What did it all mean. "Couldn't sleep?" He heard a voice behind him and turned. It was Suzy. "Heh. No not really." He responded, turning around on one foot with his hands in his pockets. She laughed at his movement. "What's going on? What's wrong?" She asked, her smile slowly turning into a concerned expression. "What do you mean? I'm fine." He said as he started turning away, raising his hand up waving goodbye, trying to leave. She grabbed his wrist and brought his arm towered her. His shoulder followed. She studied the back of his hands and then looked at him. "Don't lie to me. You've been chewing your fingernails." She said, looking up at him. He smiled and pulled her in for a hug. "You don't have to worry about me." He let go of her and walked away. She just stood there.
-
He sat on his bed. 'Hopefully all that walking will help me sleep.' He laid down. After 20 minutes, he fell asleep. No nightmares this time.
