(Chris Young) The Man I Want To Be

Chapter Five

Chapter Five

Aug 25, 2018

She sat on her bed, waiting for Chris to call her down stairs. he would call her when the first guest showed up. She stood and looked in the standing mirror, her hair was falling to the bottom of her back. Her deep red bikini was tight on her skin, and her red waist scarf was tied on the side. She had a black lace choker on and her good luck charm bracelet. It had belonged to her since birth. Every year, her parents would buy her a new charm representingqq their love for her. After they passed away, she bought one each year that represented her love for them. Whenever she wore the bracelet, good things would come her way. It all started when her mother said a prayer holding the first charm.

"Xandra, come on down." She walked down stairs, and smiled at Chris. "Hey, they'll love you."

"How can you be sure?"

"Because I love you."

She smiled, and took his hand, "lets do this."

Chris opened the door, with Xandra by his side. First to come in was Luke. He gave Chris a bro hug, and gave Xandra a hug too. "So, Alexandra, welcome to our crazy group of singers."

A bunch of people showed up, but she was mostly excited about Kane Brown. She was a huge fan of his music. Kane took her hand. "Kane Brown, it's a pleasure to meet you."

He kissed the top of her hand. "The pleasure's all mine."

She was sitting on the outdoor couch, just thinking. How, in just a few days, could her life change so much? She had a great house, a dad, connections in the music business, and a chance to actually live and be happy. Luke came up and sat next to her. "Penny for your thoughts?"

"I was just thinking, how much my life is changing." She stared at Chris, laughing with Blake and Kenny by the grill.

"Are you happy?"

"Honestly, yes. I'm happier than I've been in years. Since my parents died. I just, I'm scared."

"Honey, let me tell you something." She looked at him, and he smiled. "You're gonna be scared, probably for a while. But one thing I can promise you, is that Chris will never let you down. So you don't have to be afraid of loving him."

"Loving isn't what's hard for me. It's trusting that's so hard." She was fighting off tears. "After my parents died, I kinda just, shut everything out. My whole family stopped talking to me, cause of my parent's death. They blamed me cause he didn't kill me too."

"Well, Alexandra, I'm sure glad he didn't kill you. Because you sure make Chris happy. And you don't have to shut us out, any of us." He pat her shoulder as he got up and walked over to Kane.

She got up and walked over to Chris. She laid her head on his shoulder, and sighed. "Hey sweetie, you okay?"

"Yeah, just wanted to be near you."

He smiled, and looked to the guys. "Chris, you lucked out when you found her." Blake slapped his back as him and Kenny walked away.

"What's up?"

"Nothing."

"Bull. What's wrong?"

"It's just a lot to take in. Going from having nothing to all this. A family. It's just a lot."

"Are you happy here?"

"Extremely. I am so happy to have a dad as amazing as you."

"Why don't you swim? You're sweating bullets."

"Shot gun or semi automatic?"

"Semi automatic, cause you're on fire."

"You're crazy." She giggled as she walked off towards the pool. She jumped into the water, the coolness of the water now surrounding her completely. God that water felt so good on her hot skin. Right about then, Luke's nephew jumped in. He did a awesome cannon ball. "Yo, that cannon ball was sick!"

"Thank's. I'm Til Cheshire by the way."

"That's a cool name. I'm Alexandra Young."

"Chris sure picked a pretty daughter."

She felt the heat going to her cheeks, and she smiled. "Thanks. Not many people call me pretty. Only dad does."

"Well he ain't lying. So, how old are you? I'm fifteen."

"Fourteen."

"Cool, so uh, I like your eyes."

"Okay..." She laughed as he realized what he had said. "I'm sorry, it's just that, I like brown eyes. And your pupils are big, and you have a little sparkle in the corner of your eyes." He paused. "I'm sorry, I'm bad at flirting. I mean, not that I was flirting, or anything, cause I wasn't."

"Ha, it's okay." She giggled at the thought of a M*A*S*H reference, and she decided that life was too short not to do it. "Well, if I may say so, you have wonderful ears. I mean, most ears just sit there on the side of someones face, but yours look like they belong there."

"Oh my God, finally! A girl who likes M*A*S*H! I can't believe it. I like, love that show. My favorite is Hunnycut."

"Oh Hunnycut is to die for, but Hawkeye is just, perfection in blood covered scrubs who hits on all the nurses and likes getting drunk."

"You know, I never liked Frank."

"Oh Burns, he had so little personality. Honestly the best part of the show for his character was falling in love with Margaret and loosing his sanity." They laughed together, when Chris called for dinner.

"Grub time!" The two got out of the pool, and walked over to the grill. Xandra got a venison burger, a piece of grilled chicken, and some macaroni salad. She also grabbed a cold bottle of coke. She loved cookout food. It's the best food outside of breakfast food.
