Chris was looking through his shirt drawer, when Alexandra walked in. She walked over and pulled out a Hawaii styled shirt. It was blue with white flowers. "Oh hell no, Luke is coming over, and I will never hear the end of it if I wear this."
"Okay, but I'm telling you, Katy would like this shirt."
"How do you know?"
"She was wearing a floral dress the other day. Whatever, don't listen to me, it's not like I know everything." She smiled as she walked to her room. She walked into her closet, and picked out her white bikini and put on her fish net bathing suit cover. She slipped on her black wedge flip flops and quickly put her hair in a messy bun. The door bell rang, and she ran down stairs and beat Chris to the door. It was Luke and his family. She saw Katy walking up the drive way with a basket. "Come in everyone, you can go right out to the back yard." They all fallowed her.
Katy walked up to Chris. She looked to the blue and white floral shirt and the khaki shorts. "Nice shirt."
"Oh thanks, I thought you might like it."
She smiled, "were you trying to impress me?"
"Maybe I was..." He smiled and winked as he turned to the grill and started flipping burgers.
"Oh, um, mind if I swim?" Little did chris know, she was good at tormenting too. She went to the chairs on the other side of the grill, making sure he could see her. She lifted her red sun dress over her head revealing her bikini. Chris let his jaw drop, and he just stared as she slowly stepped into the pool. She smiled and waved at him as she caught him staring. He quickly shook off the thoughts going through his head.
Alexandra had some thoughts running through her head too. She laid on a pool ring next to Til who was doing all kinds of tricks in the water, trying to impress her, though he wouldn't admit it. "You know what I think?"
"What B... Bring it on." Man, that was close.
"I think that you're trying to get me to notice you."
"What?"
"I think that you want me to like you."
"Yeah right."
"And I think you want me to kiss you."
"Okay... Wait, what?"
She leaned in close to him, and smiled. "You want me to kiss you." She pecked a quick kiss on his lips, and giggled as she laid back on the pool floater.
He just stood there, shocked, what the hell just happened? "Wha-what was that?"
"Never been kissed before Til?"
"Well..." He thought for a minute. Maybe he could use this to his advantage. Maybe he could get another kiss, a better kiss. He just had to play it cool. "Yeah I've been kissed, and frankly, that was nothing."
"What?"
"I think you're the one that needs practice."
She got off the floater and pulled him in close, and slammed her lips against his. She glided her lips along his for a few moments then pulled away, breathing heavy. "I need practice you say?"
"No, but I need a psychiatrist." She laughed as she swam to the other end of the pool. He fallowed her, still some what in a trance.
Luke walked over to Chris, smiling. "Your daughter just kissed my nephew."
"I knew that was gonna happen. I could see how much she liked him. One thing though, if he ever hurts her, he dies."
"Chris, you know Til is a good kid. He's never hurt a soul. I honestly don't know how I feel about this though. We're practically brothers, and they have a thing now."
"They're allowed to have a thing with whoever they want. And I think they're good for each other. They sadly have a lot in common. You know, with both of them losing their parents."
"Yeah, they definately get each others pain." He looked to the two of them, splashing and screaming in the water. They were so cute together. "Is it bad that I'm fan girling over them?"
"Xandra's fan girling over me and Katy."
"You and Katy have a thing. Bro that's great!"
"No, not yet, but I've been winking at her, and she's been trying to turn me on. Get this, earlier she stood right in front of me and took her dress off revealing her sexy bathing suit. She's torturing me man."
"I hope you and her happen."
Chris looked over to the beautiful woman swimming in the pool, so graceful and pure. So beautiful. "I hope so too."
Chris called everyone over to eat. "I hope you all like apple pie and jerky, because that's what I brought. Made it myself."
"Then I'll have seconds."
She laughed at Chris. "You haven't even tried it yet."
"Yet, is the key word in that sentence."
She laughed as she took a bite of the macaroni salad. "Mmm, Chris, this macaroni salad is to die for."
"You can thank Xandra for everything that didn't take the grill."
"Well Xandra, it's delicious."
"Thank you." Alexandra looked to Chris, who looked like he was constipated. "So Katy, you have a boyfriend?"
Chris kicked her leg under the table and she shot him a death stare. "I'm sorry Katy, that was wrong to say."
She smiled, "no, it's fine. No, Alexandra, I don't have a boyfriend."
"Would you like one?"
Chris just stared at her. "Alexandra!"
"No, Chris, really, it's fine. Um, yes Alexandra, I would love to have a boyfriend."
Later that night, after Luke and his family left, Alexandra tried to sneak up the stairs. "Don't even think about it. Get down here."
She walked over to the couch where he sat. "Yes daddy?" She smiled an evil grin. "What ever is wrong?"
"Sit." He stared at her. "You know exactly what's wrong."
"Dad, before you say anything, just let me explain." She paused as he nodded. "I knew you were'nt going to make an actual move. I mean, you wink, and give glances her way, but do you tell her you like her, or even compliment her? No! Dad, I want you to be happy. I want you to have more than me and your songs. You have friends, but don't try to tell me that's enough, cause you'd be lying through your teeth. I may have embarrassed you, but I would do it again if it meant giving you a chance of happiness."
He sighed, and rubbed his forehead. "Xandra, thank you for wanting me to be happy. But I am happy. Do I wish there were more, of coarse. As humans,we always want more. But if I could live the rest of my life with the way things were right now, I would, and I would live it with a smile." He motioned for her to hug him, and she did. He took her in his arms and held her. He held her for what seemed like hours, and when he felt her breathing slow down and her pulse get slower, he realized that she was asleep. He picked her up bridal style, and walked her up to her room. He laid her carefully on her bed, and pulled the covers up to her shoulders and kissed her head before walking away. He never knew he could love like this, care for someone this deeply. But here he was, carrying a one hundred and twenty-five pound girl up a flight of stairs. He laughed slightly at the memory of the embarrassment of earlier as he walked over to his bed. As he laid down, his phone rang. "Hello?"
"Hi Chris. It's Katy. I hope I didn't wake you." There was a sound of fear in her voice.
"No, you didn't. Is everything okay?"
"Well, it's not easy to say this. I waited to tell you, well I didn't have the guts to tell you in person. Chris, I like you." She paused and waited for a response, when she didn't get one right away, she got discouraged. "I'm sorry."
"No Katy, don't be. I like you too. I like you a lot. I have for a while. Having Xandra in my life just made me see howlong I had been missing something. Soon I realized that I was missing even more. She convinced me to invite you over and try to make a mov." He laughed. "I didn't have the guts either."
She laughed, "well, I better get going, I have to work an early shift. But hey, if you want to maybe, go to the drive in movie playing tuesday night? Just you and me?" She had a hopeful tone to her voice.
"Well I better buy some snacks shouldn't I. don't want to go hungry at that movie."
She laughed and it almost sounded like she was tearing up. "Yeah, um, see you then."
"Sleep tight Katy."
"Good night Chris."
