Kane stood by the table, when he heard crying. Not just any crying, Xandra's crying. It was unmistakable. He knew her pain when he saw it, and it broke his heart.
Knock knock knock... "Xandra, you okay?"
"I'm fine Kane, just, go away... Please."
"Xandra, please talk to me..." She didn't say anything, the crying just got worse. "Xandra, I'm coming in." He opened the door and walked over to her.
"What do you want Kane?"
"To talk to you? To tell you everything's gonna be alright."
"Nothing's gonna be alright... Don't you get it? I'm never gonna be happy, truly happy..." She sobbed.
Kane sat beside her and held her so close. "Xandra, I know how hard it is to have your heart broken. It hurts like hell. But you're young, strong... Beautiful... You're gonna be alright. I promise, it goes away. Someday you'll find that Mr right, and you won't even remember today."
"Do you ever get the feeling that the one is right there, you just can't tell them?"
"Always." He sighed and stood. "Do you need anything? A drink, are you hungry?"
"Could you get me a new shoulder, cause mine is killing me."
He laughed. "I wish I could take away your pain..." All of it...
Kane was a horrible cook, and Xandra couldn't cook with one hand. So they settled for takeout. "So Kane, are we doing that pizza joint?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna get a meatball calzone..." Kane nearly drooled at the thought.
"Well, i've got my own money, so I'm gonna get a family size of chicken tenders and a family size order of mozzarella sticks." She smiled. He stared at her. "It's not like I'm gonna eat it all tonight. I'll put the rest in my mini fridge, besides, I lost eighteen pounds since I was shot. I can't afford not to cheat." She giggled.
They sat by the TV, watching M*A*S*H. She was determined to get Kane into it. She missed watching it with Till, wait, what the hell was she doing thinking about him, the hell with him!
"So, the one with the dark hair is your dream guy?" He laughed.
"Yeah, you jealous?" She giggled taking a mozzarella stick, warm cheese filling every taste bud.
"Maybe," he smiled. "But why him?"
"Well, he's really humorous, plus, he's really sweet. And when you watch the whole show twelve times like I have, you see his pain, his love, his fear, his determination. You see everything. Honestly, he has one of the best character development in the show. Plus, I like guys with stubble." Kane smirked as she gawked over Hawkeye, trying to hide that the one she's wanted all along was right next to her, barbeque stain on his shirt, ripped jeans, and most importantly, his tattoos. She loved tattoos. She couldn't wait to get one.
It had been a week and a half. Xandra was starting to feel a little bit better. And every moment that she spent with him, she realized how much she liked him. It's not like he's that much older than her. Besides, it's never gonna happen. There's no way he'd like someone like her.
She walked downstairs, walked over to Kane smiling. "Hey, I'm gonna do a YouTube video today. Wanna star in it?"
"What are you doing?"
"A Q&A and a PO box opening. But if you star we can sing what ifs at the beginning."
"Sure, and what's a PO box unboxing?"
"I get gifts from people I don't know. People that watch my videos. Wait til you see how much Blake helped me pick up yesterday. My room is piled with boxes. They had to give me a bigger room for my PO box."
They walked up to her room, and Kane was in shock. There must be at least fifty boxes. It looked like she was moving out. Good thing she had a huge room for all this stuff.
"Woah, do you always get this much?"
"No, I usually get about half of this. It's because of the shooting and my birthday. Plus my followers just love me."
"Well let's do this." He smiled as he sat next to her on the bed.
