They started singing what ifs, Kane's song. They finished singing and moved into the Q&A / PO box opening.
"What's the first question Kane?" She cut the seal on a box opening it. It was a decent sized box.
"First question is about the shooting. He asks, what happened, and who did it?"
She paused before speaking. "Well, it was my sweet sixteen party, and one of my dad's old schoolmates showed up. He tried to kill dad a long time ago. I guess he wanted to try to kill me next. But I'm a fighter, that's the word on every pillow you guys have sent me. And I just want to thank you guys so much for helping me through this." She started looking through the box. She pulled out a sparkly pink electric guitar. "Oh my gosh, Sandra Princeton, you sent me another guitar. I can't wait to try it out. Hopefully I can make some good music with it. She also sent me some cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Thank you so much Sandra. Oh, by the way, I hope you all got your autographed pictures that I sent you all. Alright, we'll do another box, then another question." She opened another box. Someone sent her a pack of three visa gift cards, each for five hundred. "Okay, James, I've asked you time and time again. Don't send me money!" She giggled. "I have money, and that's money that you could be spending on stuff for yourself. But obviously you still don't put a return address so I have to keep the money. And I can't donate it since it's on a card. You really think this through. She looked through the box and found a bunch of decorations, but then... "OH MY GOD JAMES!" She laughed and held up two more of the packages to show the viewers. "Okay, I quit, next question."
"Sarah-Beth and Mary-Beth say to open the huge box labeled advanced shipping. And they say happy birthday, and that they hope you like it all."
"Well, thank you ladies. I'm sure I'll love it." She opened the box, revealing fifteen CD's, Three make up sets, Two shower sets, a bunch of clothes and a nice jewelry box. She figured it was empty, but when she opened it, a whole crap load of really nice jewelry.
"Thank you so much girls, but you really shouldn't have spent this much money on me, but thank you,I love it all."
Two hours later they end the video, and she sighed and plopped down on her bed. Kane sat next to her. She heard the door open.
"Xandra, I'm home!"
She ran down and jumped in his arms. "Dad, I thought you had another week."
"Band member got sick. Kane, thank you so much for making sure she was okay."
"Oh yeah, no problem bro. I better go."
"Kane you sure, I was gonna treat you and Xandra to dinner."
"No, really," he stared at Xandra. "I should be going." He turned and left. He couldn't believe he was feeling for Chris's daughter. That was his little girl. What was wrong with him?
Chris and Xandra sat at a table for two at a steakhouse. Chris dug into his steak and potatoes while Xandra just sat there, staring at her hands under the table.
"Xandra, what's wrong?"
"Nothing dad... Nothing."
"Xandra, I know... I know you're scared. You have the right to be, you've just been shot. You almost died. But you're gonna be okay..."
"It's Kane..." She let out as she pictured his bright smile in her mind.
"What about Kane.?"
"I like him dad... I like him a lot." Chris stared at her. "Even when I was with Til, he didn't make me happy. He said horrible things to me all the time. I was trying to hide my feelings for Kane. I didn't think I could do better. But dad, his eyes, they hypnotize me, his smile, it drives me crazy. His tattoos, they're so sexy. Dad I just really like him. He understands, he cares. I think I love him dad. It just hurts like hell that he doesn't want to be with me."
"He told you that?"
"No, I just... Why would he want me? I'm broken and I'm not pretty anyways."
"Xandra, you're the most beautiful girl I know, you're my world. Don't sell yourself short. I know for a fact that Kane feels the same way."
"It doesn't matter, you wouldn't let me be with him anyways."
"Did I say that?"
"No. But don't you think I'm too young for Kane?"
"Do you?"
"No..."
"That's all that matters Xandra. Life is too short to run from love... You taught me that..."
