Chris stood by the grill, everyone was here. Even Luke, but no way was Til coming back. Not after how he treated Xandra. The hospital, the ongoing verbal abuse from him to her. No way was he gonna hurt her.
Xandra had finally gotten her cast off her arm and could use it a little bit. It still hurt really bad though. She looked over at Kane and saw that he was staring, beer in his hand, he looked away quickly. He couldn't help but look at her again. She looked beautiful. Her hair was in two french braids, she was wearing a black one piece. It had open spaces along her sides and it had a low back. She smiled at him and waved. He looked away again.
Chris walked over to Kane. "Hey man..."
"What, nothing!" Kane blurted out, worry on his face.
"Man, I just said hey."
"Right... Sorry bro. Got a lot on my mind."
"Yeah, Xandra sure is a pressing topic to think about." Kane looked at Chris, shocked.
"I'm so sorry Chris. I'll stay away from her." Kane took a sip from his beer.
"Do me a favor while you're not staying away from her. Just treat her right and make her happy. Be better than Til was."
"Chris, seriously... You aren't mad... She's your little girl. She's everything to you."
"Yeah, but I know I won't always have her all to myself. And honestly, if anyone's gonna let her ride shotgun, I'd want it to be you."
"I don't think she likes me man."
"Why don't you talk to her. Stop staring and get a closer look." Chris pat him on the shoulder and walked away.
Kane walked over to Xandra, who was laying on a deck couch drinking sweet iced tea with peach. "Hi."
"Oh, look who isn't ignoring me. I'm Xandra, nice to meet you."
"Xandra... I'm sorry..."
"What, what are you sorry for? Being a jerk for no reason! I didn't do anything!"
"It's not what you did, it's what you don't do!"
She paused, "what?"
"You don't do anything. Thats the thing, you don't do anything, but you still drive me crazy..." He paused and sat beside her. "I like you Xandra..."
She stared at him, her mind was doing cartwheels. What did he just say? She stood and ran into the house. He jumped up and ran after her. "Xandra!" He stopped by the table and Xandra pulled him into a kiss. Their lips collided, they were a mess in each other's arms. She slowly separated their lips, smiling. "I didn't want to kiss in front of my dad..." He grinned and she giggled as she pulled him into another kiss.
It was two weeks later, Xandra was standing by her dad at the local car place. They had a bunch of trucks, cars, motorcycles, Jeep's... Everything.
"Dad, you still haven't told me what we're doing here?"
"I didn't?"
"Daaaad..." She whined.
"Okay, okay. I just know how much you want a motorcycle... And I want to get you one."
"Oh my God! Seriously! Aaah!"
"But you're getting a helmet. And I have one condition... You have to give me a mega huge hug."
She jumped into his arms screaming. He had never seen her so excited. That bright red smile melted his heart like nothing else. She let go and ran towards the motorcycles.
She saw one from the corner of her eye and gasped. She walked over to it smiling. It was a mostly black Indian motorcycle, it was a two seater and had gold detail. The seats were gold along with the handles. You could left both seats for storage. It was amazing. She was obsessed. This was the bike. It's like it was made just for her.
Chris was signing paperwork and handing over his card while Xandra picked out a helmet for her and a helmet for Kane. She picked Kane out a Batman helmet because she called him Batman all the time. It was her pet name for him. Hers was a full head helmet, it was black, pink and had a gold skull on both sides.
