Brantley stood, the passenger door to his Jeep Dodge Ram open in his grip. He walked over to Azaria, who he could see was nervous. "Hey, it's okay..."
She walked towards the Jeep and got in and slammed the door shut. She agreed to do this, so why the fuck was she so scared? It's not like he was a bad guy. He obviously wanted her in his life. But hell, he didn't even know her! Why did he want her? Maybe he wanted to use her skin as a suit and turn her eyes into earrings. God, was he gonna make her bones into pearls? WHAT THE FUCK WAS SHE GETTING HERSELF INTO!!!???
He got in and put in a Randy Travis CD. First song to come on was Walk With Me... Really, Really... She could see that Brantley felt the same awkwardness that came with the song and their situation. It was perfectly, no, scratch that, insanely bazar.
He skipped the song, and looked at her, then back to the road ahead. "That was awkward..."
"Don't."
"Okay..." He sighed and tapped the steering wheel to Three Wooden Crosses. He heard her singing along, he was smiling. "You have a beautiful voice."
"You told me that already... At the barbeque."
"Oh, I uh, sorry." It had been an hour of driving, Brantley lived a state away. She pulled out her CD case. It was huge, as thick as the length of her hand and big enough to hold four CDs in each sheet. It was brown leather. It was given to her by Richard when she was seven and really started to appreciate music, specifically country music. She did appreciate some oldies rock and roll. She loved Hall and Oates, Journey, Bon Jovi, Leonard Skynyrd, and Alabama. She also liked Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Other than that it was all country. The case was full, and she had another one identical to it but in black and one in grey. All three were full.
She took out a CD, and popped it in the player. She skipped to track nine, and Brantley heard his song, Just as I Am start playing. He looked to her smiling. "I like this song. I like all of your songs..."
"Azaria..."
"Quiet..." She sighed. "I like you, you know, the you that you show the world." She sighed and covered her face with her hands. "I'm gonna try. I'm gonna try to give you a chance. I'm not calling you dad, I'll call you BG. And I'm not gonna hug you or any of that crap. But I will do chores, I'll behave, I'll respect you... Deal?"
"Deal." He smiled and turned up the song and he started singing along, as did Azaria.
"I still expect those perks." He laughed. "I'm serious... Fifty a week, a thousand to start, strait to a debit card and..."
"Five new outfits and two pairs of shoes... I know. You'll get it." He smiled and pulled up outside of a nice farm house on a big piece of land.
"And three accessories." She smiled and gave him puppy dog eyes. "Pweez..." She emphasized the w.
He sighed. "And three accessories." He smiled and got out of the Jeep. He walked over to her door and opened it for her. Just then, a dog ran over, and started licking her feet and legs. She started giggling.
"Aww, he's such a handsome doggo!" She kneeled down and started petting him.
"I just got him yesterday, in hopes that you would accept my adopting you. I knew you loved dogs."
She teared up. "What's his name?"
"His owner should name him..." He smiled and handed her a collar with a dog tag on it that had their address on it.
She put it on him smiling. "How about Marco? Marco, come Marco!" She Pat her thighs laughing and he came and licked her face. "Such a handsome doggo!" She smiled petting the white husky with thick long fur and diamond blue eyes. She started crying. Marco started whining and licking her tears and patting her leg with his paw.
"Azaria, I didn't mean to upset you... I just, I wanted today to be memorable, I wanted to make you happy. Are you okay?"
She laughed and cried. "I'm perfect... A white house, enough land to garden, a dog... A dog... It's all I've ever wanted. A dog!" She hugged Marco as she cried.
She stood in the doorway to her room, awe in her eyes. Marco went and laid on her bed and turned a few times before getting comfortable. He laid with his head rested on his front paws, staring at Azaria. She organized her stuff into her room, bathroom and closet.
Her closet was huge... There must've been room for five people's clothes in here. There were rainbow beads hanging from the three doors. She had a big room, plenty of room for her queen sized bed, two end tables and comfort area. The comfort area included a reclining love seat, a glass table and two white beanbag chairs. Everything was white. How did he know white was her favorite color? She had a mini fridge in the corner near her stereo system. It came with FM radio, a plug for a phone or MP3, and it had a CD player. It went up to 💯 for volume too. The bathroom was all white also. There was a fancy standing shower, a fancy humongous bath tub, a vanity with one large sink and organization on top and in cabinet space. It had a huge mirror above the vanity and a standing mirror in the corner near the standing cabinet for all of her bathroom supplies. She really couldn't believe all of this. Was life finally starting to go right?
