When Sophia and Cat learned of the girl's resurrection, they immediately made an appointment with the coroner. However, this interview did not bring them any new elements and they could not get the doctors approval to meet the girl who was still undergoing a battery of tests to ensure her health.
The only new information came from the inspection of the other corpses, they were full of energy, probably Lilian's energy, she had tried to make them reborn too but only the last victim had been able to escape the kingdom of the dead.
The investigation was at a standstill and rather than running in vain after a witch who obviously took every possible precaution not to be found, they had made the decision to investigate the victims starting with the freshest, Tony Caron. What link could this little thug have with the witches, why did they target him...? And what was his link with the other victims. In this case, there was no end to questions, or to be more precise, the puzzle was still to be assembled.
As they were heading towards the bar where Tony was seen alive for the last time, an unexpected event occurred. A magic space opened around them, one of the sorcerers was not glad to see their involvement in this investigation; Sophia and Cat were no longer hunters but preys. Around them, the city was disappearing to be replaced by a flood of intertwined colours. The atmosphere got heavy and soon, from this scenery, forms emerged accompanied by deadly growls. The forms became little by little more precise to soon form an army of living dead.
Sophia, far from being impressed by this attack immediately took the lead, making a pistol appear via a teleportation circle.
"No need to take gloves, they're already dead..."
The great weakness of the living dead is their slowness and Sophia intended to take advantage of it. She had to eliminate as many as she could before they approached. And for that, there was only one solution, to blow their brains out. Sophia was certainly not a marksman, but the zombies moved slowly enough so that she could shoot them without difficulty. After a few minutes, the number of opponents had already dropped greatly. Obviously the opposing wizard underestimated her.
It was then when she began to feel ill, headache, loss of balance, sudden fatigue. Then visions began to impose themselves on her as she gradually lost consciousness.
Little by little, the visions got structured in Sophia's brain; she then clearly saw what seemed to be a black magic ceremony. But beyond these visions, she now heard a voice that seemed to come from within, a woman's voice, full of aggressiveness.
Cat, on the other hand, was not in a good posture, Sophia was no longer able to protect her and she had no weapons. As she was wondering how to get herself out of this bee-eater, the words of the stranger came back to her mind..." Remember this feeling and you will be able to succeed in any spell..." The problem was that she knew no spell that could be used in combat, the only thing she knew was to concentrate her energy... And again, she had burned herself more than once because of her lack of control... This thought was like a revelation, if she burned herself, it meant that she could also burn something else... By concentrating the energy in her hand, she could perhaps make a weapon capable of knocking down zombies.
She had no more time to think, the creatures were approaching and would soon attack.
Cat concentrated her energy around her hand, trying to keep it as stable as possible. Soon her hand was completely full of energy, it was now the moment of truth, she struck one of the creatures in the face, the result was even more convincing than she expected, half of the zombie's head burst, returning him to hell. This small victory caused a slight drop in her concentration which she immediately paid, the energy began to burn her hand, she had to take on herself to restore the energy balance despite the pain. She then positioned herself as a barrage between the creatures and Sophia, who was now totally unconscious, in order to protect her from attacking zombies.
The voice now resonated louder and louder in Sophia's mind, telling her to let her out. It was not just a voice, it was an entity with its own personality awakening within her and seeking control. Sophia now had the curious sensation of falling asleep as her memory returned. She now remembered everything, even that blonde woman who had tried to sacrifice her in a dark ritual and whose memories she could now see as her own.
Cat was in a bad position, although there was now only one remaining opponent in front of her but she had no energy left, her arm, covered with burns refused to move, to tell the truth she even had difficulty standing up. When the creature attacked, her body refused to move and she failed to dodge the blow. She was thrown to the ground, her head hit the ground violently, causing her to lose consciousness.
But when all seemed lost, as the creature was about to finish her, it stopped abruptly and began to scream painfully. A kind of black and repulsive worm had penetrated the inside of his ear and was now attacking him from the inside. Moments later, the zombie's head burst. His body collapsed and the worm came out to join his master... He ultimately disappeared inside Sophia's hand. Sophia rose up painfully, all the veins of the left half of her body were black and protruding, but it was not the only change, Sophia's consciousness was now asleep, it was the unknown entity who was now at the commands of her body. Once up, she spoke, calling out to an invisible interlocutor:
- Rather brutal, you could have woken me up more gently; moreover, I see that you are not ready...
The next moment, Anne-Marie appeared in front of her, apologizing for the turn the events had taken, telling her in detail how the circle of roses had to face this sister who was visibly seeking to exterminate them.
Anne-Marie did not have time to finish her story, she received a violent slap and remained amazed, staring at the face of her mistress who fulminated:
- I Thought I was clear : NO DEATHS! With your powers, you could have carried out your mission without having to kill!
Anne-Marie apologized flatly for this discrepancy, swearing that it would never happen again while her interlocutor was already turning her heels, promising to solve the problem of this "sister".
