Onay was exited to listen to these kid's stories, and would not miss a detail
-You.-The masked figure pointed at Charlie- Tell your story.
-My story?- Charlie chuckled. His head still hurt and he started to think the group had been knocked into that place.- I was born, raised and then one day I appeared with a knife in my hand. My father stared, not knowing how it had gotten there, and a bomb apeared on my other hand. Program Imaginaria, you know it? I was taken there, escaped, and here I am.
The masked person scanned Charlie up and down.
-That's not enough. Show your ability. What are you wearing now?
-You want me to raise my shirt and lower my pants? Sorry but I won't no matter what this bad joke is. And about my ability, sure, here you go.
Charlie made the quickest bomb he could and threw it at the stranger. He hoped it could surprise the masked figure and perhaps even damage them.
But his plans failed when a white glowing spikey figure grew from the floor and stabbed right through the bomb, it being cut in half and falling to the ground, vanishing as well as the glowing spike.
-Good display.- The masked person's voice took a higher pitched sound, almoust of joy and fun. Then they turned to face Juniper.- What about you?
Juniper didn't hesitate. She spinned her hands in place, made a sphere with them, and eventually opened them to show a small white bird fly up. Juniper made it small and inofensive, like a baby leaving the nest. But that didn't stop the mask from using another spike, this time bright purple, to stab right through it. Juniper stopped in her place and dropped to her knees with an anxious chuckle.
-What the hell do you think you are doing?
-Checking if it was real and not a puppet like some others can do.- The masked person turned to Claire, ignoring how significant it had been for Juniper. The bird's feathers vanished into the soil, but it's blood remained.
-Others?- Charlie stood up and took a step forward- What place is this? the final step before the Program throws us away?
The masked person seemed to ignore Claire when she turned arround- Which hurt the girl's feelings- The Program Imaginaria?
Then they took off their mask. They wore a greyish brown hair which was made into two side gourds, their nose was plain and small, with little to no bridge. Their eyes were wide and short, wearing long eyelashes, but what struck Charlie and Juniper were their pupils. They were a scary white colour, with a broken iris to display a darker tone of grey from the back of their eye. Their cheeks were ornamented with different spirals and spikes like the one they had summoned.i
-You also come from there?- And they seemed to forget these strangers could be a menace.
-Charlie and I come from there, Juniper escaped before being taken in.- Claire stood up and joined the conversation, not enjoying being in the back.- And my ability is to change my body.- She wanted to be taken seriously, but now she regreted it, since she was now the new person's center of attention.
They scanned the three youths before pointing and applying their names.
-Juniper, Charlie, Claire.- Claire disliked being called last, but one of them had to go in that position.- My name is Onay, I'm considered the leader here, so you may want to keep it that way. And you may call me as you wish.
Only Charlie seemed to get the final part as he nodded. Onay turned arround, leaving their mask on the floor, and started walking towards what seemed like a tent door, although it was placed where an average door could easily be put. Once outside, the group had to cover their eyes that had been so accustomed to the darkness. In just a few seconds, Juniper had accustomed completely, and she gasped when she saw how many people were waiting outside. At least four dozen kids of all ages, Charlie figured out the youngest must have been arround 11 while the oldest looked like a legal adult.
Juniper took a step down the entrance stairs, but back up once the crowd backed away. The leader spoke with calm,
-The title 'most dangerous' has been applied to most of us during the times, there is no reason to feel threatened.- Onay turned to smile at Juniper, who finally jogged down the stairs to be welcomed by a crowd with open arms.
Charlie took a different direction, yet recieved the same welcome. Claire, nevertheless, stood still, wondering what this Onay was, their intentions and overall, how they were so confident about their odd apearence.
Juniper was soon taken to a group of the self-called 'elementals'. One could create currents and harmless liquids, another could grow vegetables, but he explained
-Many of us can do it, very few have unique powers. But no matter if the abilities are similar or different, we all deal well with eachother.
Another could blow extremely fast winds which made Juniper remember to brush her hair with a brush lent to her. The group finnaly explained there was another one, but she was preparing for the night's welcoming show.
Juniper thought it rather odd that a show would be prepared only for them, but she went arround cheerfully, enjoying such a welcome. The group sat down arround a slowly growing tree made by the boy called Chris, in a round, they presented with their names and told jokes. Juniper quickly grew accustomed to each joke. The wind girl, Clara, had a confident and proud sense of humour, making everything sarcastically about her. The water boy, Alex, explained his 'spiritual conections to the sea' had always been in the back of his mind, but Clara complained she was the only thing he should have been thinking about since they met. Chris was too concentrated in his tree, but he managed to explain he found about his ability in a biology class, a subject he had failed countless times, so he was rather complicated whenever he had to create a plant.
-It's not fair I got a power about things I don't understand!
But Clara calmed him down when she explained it was easier than Mary's photons and fire pyramid and fuel and all that 'fire stuff'.
Even Juniper managed to laugh like it had been a recurring joke in the group, she felt like she belonged so easily it hurted Claire, who stared from the distance.
-I believe with a little bit of help, I can get you to manage your powers just fine, you may even be able to change other people if you improve enough.- Onay encouraged.
