John had short cropped black hair, he wore the uniform of the kids museum which was a black shirt with white stripes and black pants with dress shoes. A bow tie around his neck, He fished his cellphone out of his pocket and sent Dirk a text message. He’d wait on a response, he had to get home to his 6 year old son and daughter. Walking into the house he smiled as Jake and Jane ran over to him, little yellow kindergarten hats on their heads. He smiled down at them and scooped them into his arms.
“Daddy!” came Jake’s squeal, “How was work daddy?” Jane asked excitedly. The man chuckled and hugged his children, “work was fine kids, now go play”. He set them both down and watched them run off giggling. He yawned and looked down as he felt his phone go off.
“Dirk is calling you, pick up the phone fuck ass! Hurry up I’m pretty sure everyone around you is getting annoyed at this fuck forsaken voice!”
He rolled his eyes and smiled at the annoying ringtone Dirk had picked out for him. He answered it with a grin, “Dirk! Hey, Kyo wants you at the place by five tomorrow ok?”
“Alright then, I’ll be there Berty, I’ll need you to pick some things up for me before tomorrow ok? Or you can get them tomorrow it’s not a rush” John scowled at the nickname but didn’t say anything to it as he got out a pad and a pen. “Ok sure thing, alright, uh huh...ok”, he finished the list and bid his goodbyes to Dirk. Hanging up he sent a quick text to Roxy before setting the phone down.
John then decided to take a shower before preparing dinner for his children. He hummed lightly to himself as he walked into the kitchen to start on it. Setting his glasses on the countertop, John recalled the plaque he’d read in the control room. He couldn’t help the feeling of dread that sank down his spine, sticking to it like a thick slime that oozed with malice and ill intent.
