Sombra popped a bubble with her gum. She was getting anxious and inpatient. She wanted to get away and be on the road soon. Talon knew that this place was one of her places to visit, so they would stop by soon. It wouldn’t be a good idea to hang around this place until then.
When Winston finally called back, she had her not-caring attitude ready. He had his serious face on, which is frightening to say the least. She held her typical Sombra-attitude face, but his face made her spine crawl.
He didn’t say anything, looked away from the camera and started typing. He grunted. Sombra signed to her friend to get her something strong to drink. A few moments later, Winston started talking: “You need to tell me what happened. I couldn’t make much sense of the activity between Talon members”. Sombra hated this. She was embarrassed and wanted to contain this, but if she wanted help, she would need to spill.
She popped another bubble with her gum and then told him about what happened earlier that day. Her meet with Symmetra, later Torbjörn and the ambush by Widowmaker and Reaper. How intense and dangerous it was, as Reaper actually had his hands on her. How he disgruntled and reluctant opened his grip on her arm, only because of the threat that Symmetra and Torbjörn had showed him. When she let it slip that Symmetra had mentioned improvement on her light gun, Winstons face lit up.
He started typing again and fiddling with his computer, looking up information. “There was an encrypted call today between two Talon members, around 3 in the afternoon in your timezone”. Sombra nodded. “That sounds about right”. Winston grunted and started to look further into the case.
After a while he sighed. In a low, annoyed voice he said “We need to meet. I can’t find more info unless we get inside Talons network”. While Sombra didn’t expect this, she kept her careless face and laughed heartily of the way he had said it. She enjoyed annoying the monkey, and she knew that he was very annoyed about this. They agreed to meet at Gibraltar, one of Overwatch’ abandoned bases. The old equipment would still be there and hopefully, work.
She gobbled up her strong drink and for a second lost her balance. She cloaked in preparation for leaving unseen. She walked out the door and up the stairs - when she turned the next corner, in the corner of her eye, she saw a silhouette on the roof across the street - she quickly stepped back. She might be cloaked, but who was to know if Talon had figured out a way to see through it.
She squeezed herself into a doorway and took out a mirror in an attempt to try and see the silhouette on the roof without them seeing her. It confirmed her first assumption: Widowmaker. And with her infrared helmet activated. Sombra had been lucky and seen her first. She heard a low growling from the other side of her. She cursed herself to hell and back in her own mind. She quickly checked the handle on the door. Locked. Not much to do but hope Reaper would walk past her without noticing her.
She didn’t dare to stick out her nose, but she really wanted to know if he was alone or not. She carefully took her mirror and turned it. There were two people coming, and one of them was definitely Reapers. She recognised his stature and walk. She didn’t recognise the other person walking beside him. They talked in very low voices as they approached Sombras hiding place.
She turned on her amplifier and started recording, she needed to know who she was dealing with. Partly because this might be another member from the inner council of Talon. She had only met Reaper, and she needed more dirt on the organisation to get out scott free. Way more.
It was clear that they discussed the current hunt for her. “So, you’re saying that Symmetra and Torbjörn know about this now? Grand.” - Reaper snarled. He was angry. “This is just BRILLIANT.” she continued. “Reaper, do we know where any of them are right now?” As they walked by Sombra, he answered No.
Sombra stopped the recording - all she needed was a voiceprint. Who was this woman? She quickly and quietly ran down the street, away from Widowmakers sights. Gibraltar was the next move, but she somehow would have to let Symmetra know. It would be up to her if Reinhardt and Torbjörn should know.
