Soon Alison was changed into a skirt that would have made our father scold her, but the little angry blush she had made me keep a smile on as I went through Alison’s library again. The hairs on my neck rose and I knew Shane was approaching me. I didn’t move, nor did I acknowledge him yet. After a few silent moments he finally spoke.
“Were you serious?” he said on a whisper. His tone had me frowning as I spun around to see his blank face.
“Why wouldn’t I be serious about that?” I whispered back, knowing that voices would echo. Shane looked away and shrugged. Sighing I put the book I had back and walked over to him. Once I got him to sit on the couch he seemed to mull things over.
“You would have never said yes years ago.” He didn’t look at me again.
“How do you know?” I said a little insulted. That got him to glare at me.
“You were the ladies man in high school. All the girls wanted you. You made it obvious that you weren’t even Bisexual, let alone gay.” He said on a harsh whisper. His eyes left mine and I felt empty again. Frustrated a little I grabbed his jaw and made him look at me. Once his eyes were back on mine, I felt that sense of home again and relaxed a little.
“You don’t know that. After Juliann I stopped dating in general. I dated because I couldn’t find the one that made me feel whole. I had a dream, actually a memory, a while back and I remembered that first day that I made eye contact with you in the cafeteria.” Shane’s eyes widened a little. “I couldn’t look away from you. What bugged me the most was I couldn’t put a name to your face. I knew all the girls you walked in with, but damn if I couldn’t find your name. I searched the rest of the day for you, but I couldn’t find you.”
“I went home.” Shane whispered. “Kelly was sick, and needed to be picked up from elementary school. My parents were out of town on business.”
I smiled softly as I released his jaw. I knew I had his attention so instead I gently placed my hand on his.
“Later in the dream, some time had passed. Spring semester was when I did track so I could be ready for the marines. I walked into a locker room and someone was changing before all the others. It seemed strange to me but I let it go. When you finally looked at me I felt relieved that we had finally met alone. What you had told me confused me though.”
“I didn’t want to lose control and force myself on you.” Shane whispered.
“I know that now. I didn’t then. A lot of my memories have been in hiding, but seeing you again have let them loose. I know now, that I did like you back then. I didn’t know it but I could feel it even then.” Shane’s eyes softened before he gripped my hand a little tighter. We were happy now that things had gotten cleared up. Everyone then gathered for dinner in the dining room. I was happy to sit beside Shane. During the meal I caught a glance at Alison and saw her smiling and teary eyed as she spoke with mom. Once dinner was done Shane and I went downstairs with the other guys while the girls cleaned. During one of the pool games, everyone paused to a soft noise.
It started softly, but then Shane and I followed the others when we heard Molly singing. Quietly we walked to the doorway to the library and listened as Molly sang. Soon Alison joined in harmony and I closed my eyes as I listened to them. It was a beautiful song that was about a single parent and their child they brought up alone. When Alison finally finished playing we all clapped for the mini show. I smiled gently at her. It has been a while since she played and sang at once. She used to do it for Anthony everyday but that changed the day he died.
Mom called us into the dining room for dessert again. I saw Jason say behind out of the corner of my eye and smiled. He was going to test Marcus one last time before he got the approval. Shane raised an eyebrow at me but I just chuckled.
“Wait and see.” I whispered as we grabbed a piece of pie.
While we sat down I motioned for him to watch Alison. He did so confused. I watched Alison eat her pie. The wheels were turning in her head. I smiled when her eyes went wide. She then abruptly stood and pointed her fork at Jason who was smirking at her.
“You Monkey’s Butt!” she yelled minding Molly. Jason laughed as the guests were confused and my other brothers and I were holding back our laughter.
“Took you long enough to put the pieces together.” Jason teased. Alison blushed as she sat back down.
“Did we miss something?” Nick said confused.
“You scared the crap out of me Jason” Alison said exasperated.
“Brought it on yourself.” He countered. I watched as Alison glared at him. I then wondered what he said to make Marcus protect her from hurt.
“Still lost here.” Nick said on a sigh. I rolled my eyes at him.
“Nevermind.” Alison said before she left the table. Tiffany and Mary shared glances before they too left with Alison.
Shane nudged my side with questions in his eyes. I chuckled before I put my voice at a whisper.
“It was Marcus’ final test.” Shane nodded. Soon everyone was putting their dishes in the dishwasher when laughing made me look at Shane. we then started for the stairs. Alison and the girls had gone down before the rest of us. The scene before us though had me confused and a little worried. Alison was on the ground holding her sides as she laughed her ass off.
“What in the world?” Shane voiced for me, which just made Alison burst out laughing more. I tilted my head at her in pure confusion.
“What did you do to her?” I said purely confused if my sister had finally snapped.
“How long has she been laughing?” Jake asked.
“Too long.” Steven said sternly.
“Hey it’s not our fault she reacted that way.” Mary said defensively. I wanted to shoot her a glare but I could take my eyes off my crazy sister.
“I didn’t think she was that much of a lightweight.” Tiffany said on a chuckle.
“She isn’t” Lucas said joining the group.
“What?” Mary and Tiffany said in unison. Which only made Alison laugh harder.
“I think she finally cracked.” Jason laughed loud as he stepped in front of the group. I watched surprised as Alison stopped laughing abruptly and launched off the ground. She quickly tackled Jason, who was so distracted with laughing he didn’t notice what happened until he was wide eyed and on the ground with a livid Alison pinning him down. She pinned him on his stomach and I watched in awe as she dug her nails into the back of his neck.
“DON’T YOU EVER CALL ME TRASH AGAIN!!” She yelled. I saw tears fall before she quickly flipped him over and slammed her knee into his groin. She then stood and watched Jason curl into a ball.
Still stunned everyone watched Marcus wrap his arms around her. He must have spoken to her, but soon she went to the bar and finished off a drink. “Wait-“ Tiffany, Mary, and Steven said together, but Alison had downed the drink. Shaking off my shock I went over the pool table and started watching the game Marcus, Brad, Jason, and Jake had started. Shane was beside me as we leaned against the back wall.
When the game was almost done Alison cut in.
“I’m in next game.”
“Me too.” Shane said leaving the safety of the wall. I frowned after him, but my eyes shot up in surprise when Jake spoke.
“I suggest Luke.” He said loudly.
“I suggest Marcus.” Jason said as he shot an apologizing smile to Alison, but he only winced when she glared back. Totally not forgiven there brother, pushed too far. I scolded him in my mind before I grabbed a que stick and chalked it up. The others went over to the TV or bar so we were left to play.
Marcus and I were a team and had the first turn. I started and broke. After I got one of the solids in I took aim for the next one. My eyes though wouldn’t focus since Shane was stretching up and my eyes instantly looked at the thin black patch of hair that traveled below into his pants. Without realizing it I had taken a shot. When Alison laughed it broke the spell and I looked at the table before I groaned. It was going to be a long night of teasing.
The whole game ended up being a teasing match between Shane and I, and Marcus and Alison. Though, it seemed like Marcus could control himself better than Alison could. Well or so I thought until he scratched after shooting the eight ball. I glared at him as Shane laughed and Alison played the innocent part.
“What happened?” Alison asked.
“We won because Marcus scratched.” Shane said slinging his arm on Alison’s shoulder. “Good game, partner in crime.” He chuckled.
“Cheaters” Marcus whined.
“That wasn’t fair.” I hissed at Shane and Alison who just stuck her tongue out before she turned.
Soon music with a heavy beat started playing and the girls were dancing together. I watched as Nick and Brad slip out. Jake and Lucas did the same. With the lights low I was barely able to make out who started dancing with Tiffany. What surprised me most was that Jason snatched Mary up. Marcus was of course with Alison. The way they were all dancing you would think that they were at a dance club. It was all grinding.
When the song changed I felt Shane slip his hand into mine. In the dim light I saw his bright eyes dark with lust as he pulled me to a corner of the dance floor. Placing himself at my back I felt my heart rate and breathing pick up.
“Relax and feel.” He breathed into my ear. Heat seared through me when he nestled his crotch against my ass. Soon nothing mattered as he ran his hand up my chest and held my neck to the side. His lips kissed the sensitive skin on my neck making goosebumps appear on my skin. Suddenly his other hand was on my hip under my shirt. Two of his fingers sneaked below my jeans as they rubbed slightly in teasing circles. So many sensations were going through me that when Shane nipped my earlobe, I almost embarrassed myself.
“I’m not going to go far with you tonight.” He whispered in my ear. A little disappointment ran through me, but when I opened my eyes I watched as Jason kissed Mary as he backed her up into one of the spare rooms. Steven and Tiffany were long gone, while Alison and Marcus were lost in each other dancing still.
Shane grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the dance floor and then pinned me in a dark corner on the opposite side of the room. His bright eyes almost glowed in the dim lighting.
“But it doesn’t mean I won’t continue this tease until you beg.” He said with a wry grin before his eyes locked on my lips. Still breathing hard I watched as he slowly lowered and placed his lips on mine. I groaned into his mouth and he responded by bucking his hips a little. Bringing my hands up, I moved them slowly up his thighs until I was on his hips. Like he did to me, I eased my hands under his shirt. Shane gasped at my touch so taking the curious opportunity; I explored his mouth with my tongue while my fingers played with the little hair leading below his pants.
Shane groaned into my mouth as one of his hands came around to hold my neck. His pelvis moved closer to mine as he pinned me further into the corner. Time didn’t mean anything to us. Shane removed his mouth from mine, but instead he started kissing down my jaw to my throat. When he passed my ear he paused and whispered to me. At first all I was able to say was a ‘huh?’
