Juniper had been dragged to the so called "dance floor". She hated parties. They made her feel odd, and unable to show how she could really be, but none of her friends, specialy Clara, left her avoid it.
Since it had not started, the group of friends sat down in a circle, rather like they had been sitted before, but this this time, the circle was opened for a new person, this supposed Mary that had been organizing the party.
-She should be with the fireworks, no idea how she's going to do it.- Clara spoke with a grin, like she had told her it wouldn't work.
-I'm just going to wait and watch whatever show will be put up.- Juniper crossed her legs but left her arms behind herself, holding her up almoust like a human chair.
-There! That's Mary, the stubborn redhead.- The group, exept Juniper, laughed at Chris' comment well up until Mary was in listening range. But she was not alone. Juniper recognized that short person with puffy hair, Charlie.
That's when she thought if they were really friends. They had shared time together only because they had to survive, if they could choose, probably none of them would have chosen. After all, as soon as they got other people to be with, they parted different ways. But Juniper wanted to give Charlie the oportunity, convincing herself all those thoughts were intended for the odd Claire.
-Hey.- They both said in unison, Charlie with a smile while Juniper stone faced. Charlie seemed to have been having such a good time, he ignored Juniper's off reaction.
-The show will start as soon as the sun se- Mary was interrupted by a high pitched sound comming from the stage. Many covered their ears, but some others just put on a disturbed face until the sound was changed to a singing voice.
It was not a miraculous voice, nothing heavenly, but just perfect for a young teen. He quickly jumped over the stage, and everyone that had been there for a while started clapping and screaming like they were mad. Juniper was startled by this reaction, but everyone was laughing so much, like a community joke, that she couldn't help but join them.
The boy presented himself, but Juniper couldn't cat his name properly. It sounded rather like Microphone, so she decided to call him that in her mind. He started singing in english, many filled in part where he left for the audience to complete. If he had been in the city, he could have really been a great celebrity. As he sang, he danced, and his moves didn't affect his voice, mixing perfectly. He even walked down the stage stairs and between the scattered groups of friends, such a gentle move made Juniper remember just how safe she was. Nobody attacked him as a madman, nobody bothered anyone, everyone was on their topic just enjoying the moment.
The song spoke about bravery, about fighting, and about conquering. However, it was not violent. It was the most positive Juniper had heard in a long time, and the description in how they were perfect almoust brought tears into her eyes. The language changed, now to Spanish- or Italian, Juniper couldn't tell. She wondered how it had been that a person from another country had reached that place, but she then remembered how Program Imaginaria was the only place to treat Imaginators in the world. It was understandable people would bring their cases from the corners of the planet.
He changed once more, to a gentle language Juniper knew, but not quite, French. The song had apparently gone through a weak stage, of giving up and surrendering, but was now catching up, singing about running and jogging through open fields, staring at the stars and enjoying eachother's company. And the lyrics mixed exactly with the calm movements of the groups.
Alex, Chris, and Clara were hugging eachother, and Clara pulled Juniper down to lay over their laps as a way to get a group hug withough avoiding staring at the stage. And Juniper could see how Mary surrounded Charlie with an arm. Everyone clamly swung from a side to another, enjoying the chill music, but errupting into more claps and screams when the song ended. It didn't take long until another started, but this time the singer had jumped down the stage stairs to mix with a few friends. The new song was a little more moving, and many stood up to dance, including Mary, who pulled Charlie up and started dancing with him. Juniper stared as she spinned him and moved her body arround him. He laughed and moved his feet from side to side, and forward and backwards. He also moved his hips once he got the courage to raise his arms, and Mary howled at his movements.
Juniper laughed loudly once she saw this, but she had not stop once she was picked up by Alex to dance with him. Clara soon pushed him away and she started dancing in his place, winking at Juniper as she laughed. Alex rolled his eyes and went to dance with Chris, Leaving the girls and the other couple close. But Clara told Juniper to stop and stare once Mary and Charlie stopped dancing. They were both looking up at fire balloons flying up the sky, and when Mary shook her hand up, they exploded into thousands of colours.
Fireworks. How long had it been since she had seen them? Three, four years? It didn't matter, because now their image was well recorded in her mind. The sound took a bit longer to reach than the light, leaving people shouting the lyrics of a song just as the explosion reached them.
Juniper laughed next to Clara, her blonde hair flowing with waves over her shoulders, and reflecting every different colour from the fireworks in her different locks.
And she hugged Juniper tightly, over her shoulder with her head right in the place to perfectly see as Charlie was hugged by Mary.
-I'm thankful you got here.- Clara whispered, shaking her in her hug before letting her go to resume dancing.
