---Echo’s POV---
Swimming across the Academy, it was easy to see that there were a lot of people watching us. It was to be expected with the spectacle that was created by Silves’s spell. It was easy to see that Silves was not taking it well.
Swimming into the cafeteria, all talking stopped and everyone turned to look at us. Silves froze as everyone stopped and looked at us. Then the whispering and pointing started and Silves was obviously upset.
“Hey, don’t worry about them.” Trying to keep my voice calm and even. Knowing that this would be bothering Silves more than it would me.
As we moved through the cafeteria, the room was mostly silent. Wishing that everyone would mind their own business or at least figure out that they were upsetting Silves. I started glaring at everyone, causing quite a few people to look away, but not dimming the talking. Conversation slowly started back up. Though it was easy to hear that most of the conversations were about the matches.
Silves was still silent and just sat there picking at his food. He would take a small bite every now and again. All the whispering and other conversations were really eating at him.
“Silves, I know you don't want to be here, but you need to at least try and eat more. And then we can go back to the room for the rest of the night.” I said my voice soft, holding my hand out, to take his if he wanted to hold mine.
Displaying my emotions in public was not something that I was good at. Most of the time, I tried to keep everyone from knowing what I was feeling. Though if it would make Silves happy, I was happy to hold his hand. Though there was no overall rule about dating in school, I had a feeling that us sharing a room might cause some issues. No matter what Saous felt about it. Our relationship was new to both of us, something neither of us knew much about.
Silves placed his hand in mine for a moment before removing it. It brought a small smile to his face. Which made me feel better, so I smiled back at him. His eyes seemed to glow, just a little.
“Well, well, well, Look what we have here,”
Silves and I were caught off guard, it was a voice we recognized. Yet only vaguely. My eyes moving over to look past Silves seeing the person talking to us. It was the male twin, his face was full of scorn. He was one of the people I was hoping not to run into.
Saous had warned us how hostel the twins could be, whether it was on or off the battlefield. With just the one twin showing up, it was easy to know that he was looking for trouble. Glaring at him, thinking about what he could be thinking. We would have to either leave or fight.
“And what do you want?” My tone was harsh and ill-mannered, but nice enough to hear him out if he wanted to apologize for what happened earlier.
“Just surprised that you too cheaters would show your face in public after what happened. But nothing less can be expected form and a male siren and a traitor's son.”
My eyes narrowed as my blood boiled, this child was throwing a tantrum because he lost. I could take him right here right now. Although Silves was still recovering from his expenditure earlier, and he probably wouldn’t approve of me using the guys face to mop the floor. Beating the twins wouldn’t be too hard, they were strong. But overall my technique was better than his was. This was not the place to have this kind of confrontation, thinking about how Silves would relax helped me cool down.
Then I remembered that fighting was against the school rules and I realized that was what he was doing. He was trying to get us kicked out for fighting him outside of the arena. Being in second place if they got us or even one of us kicked out they would take first place.
So I decided to the second thing to came to my mind.
“We don't have to listen to this.” slowly getting up.
Picking my tray of food up and moving around the table, moving closer to Silves. While refusing to look at the Twin. Grabbing Silves by the arm and lifting him from the table. He grabbed his food and followed after me silently, refusing to look anywhere but his tray.
“Come on Silves, let's go back to our room.”
The twin glared at us and started yelling insults at us. Refusing to listen to him, Silves and I kept swimming towards the exit. I was severely hoping that Silves was ignoring him as much as I was. Thought from the look on Silves’s face it was a safe assumption that he was listening. Getting to the bins we deposited our leftover food to be recycled and placed our tray on the stack next to it.
Leaving the cafeteria we made our way back to our room. It wasn’t hard to see that there were going to be some issues with what happened, though I would have had to have been blind not to know that originally. The main problem was no one knew how Silves did what he did. Not that it was surprising, even Silves didn’t know the answer.
The twin followed after us, yelling insults the whole way. I saw Saous heading in our direction. Probably drawn in by the commotion that was being created. Though he was just making a fool of himself. Anyone who saw the match knew we beat him, anything he said was just him trying to start trouble.there was a moment of joy for me, when I got to slamming our door into his face. For some reason, the fool had tried to follow us into our room.
I locked the door behind us as we entered. One of the best things about the dorm rooms was that the doors would only open to the ones who were assigned to the room. That meant that neither of the twins could bother us. I thought about maybe going back to our cavern again, but the twin who I was sure was still outside the door could follow us. Then whatever could happen wouldn't be a pretty picture, I was sure of that.
Silves had flopped on his bed again. His face didn't look too pleased with our encounter in the cafe.
“Silves, I’m sorry that happened,” I paused for a moment to get closer to him. “I know you didn’t want to be there in the first place, And I also almost got into another fight.”
He didn’t look at me nor did he speak, which made me feel terrible for some reason. He didn’t deserve to be treated like this and neither did I. It was way better for both Silves and I to avoid conflict rather than egg it on.
“How are you feeling?” Changing the subject was the best thing to do.
"Okay, I guess.” His mood was unchanging at the moment.
I sat down beside him and took his hand.
“Silves there is something I have been wanting to talk to you about,” I took a deep breath. “We are partners, and we always will be until the end. Once you feel up to it I would l like to start training to up my cold resistance. We both know that ice magic is one of your strengths, so I want to be able to stay with you and be able to fight alongside you. Even when you might have to leave for the Arctic to train there.”
Silves looked at me in the eyes after I finished. His face said everything. That he was happy about what I said. That he was willing to try and he wanted to stay partners too.
“Okay,” He paused, let go of my hand and started forming a cooling spell with his hands. “Let’s do it,”
“Not now Silves,” I stopped him from casting the spell further. “You need to save your energy. It can wait till you are better. I don't want to push you, you are still healing after all.”
I gave him a slight smile and he returned my gesture with a coy but happy smile.
“Now why don't we lay down some more,” I said, already getting us into position.
“Okay,” Silves yawned and rubbed his eyes a bit. “I still feel a little tired anyway.”
My eyes opened as a low hum sounded in the room. Looking around trying to see what was going on. Silves was still sleeping on my chest the sound not having bothered him. Then a bright light flashes through the room, blinding me. Screaming and turning from the light, Silves rolled off of me.
“Wake up Silves, wake up!” I said shaking him, still unable to see what was going on in the bright light.
“I’m awake, what’s going on? What’s with the light?”
“It’s the book.” my voice was low, but my eyes had adjusted to the light coming off of the book. Pointing at the center of the room where the book was floating about five feet off of the floor.
Silves and I shared a look, before he opened his mouth, “This is new” was all he said. For some reason it made me laugh and helped put me at ease.
