In which the over-arching theme of the story becomes apparent rather quickly.

-- The city of Amada is located in the northern region of Ratana, one of the many provinces of what is now known as Aatos. An ancient city of great power, Amada stands vigil over The Great Well. It, alongside the Eye of Nahuatl and Huon's Gate, make up the three sources of magic in the Waking Realm. Through them, every body of water in Ila is connected, and because of that, magic flows freely through the flora and fauna of the world.

The events of The Breaking nearly devastated the world, but through the power of Ora, and the combined strength of the Chosen, the Void was driven back into It's prison, sealed away under the Eye of Nahuatl. However, even if the Void WAS sealed away... a shred of Its being still housed itself in the Waking Realm; a seed rooting itself in the mind of Veles, slowly driving the Great Dragon mad, even in deep hibernation.

Through this... It continued to grow, it continued to fester. Eventually, It was strong enough to reach out, It's tendrils barely brushing the edges of the Six Elements.

... but a brush was all It needed. --
