"What do you mean he's too good for me?!" Archer asked with his eyes wide open. He was close to being hysterical. He tends to make a big deal out of anything that involves him. If anything, he's too good for Clyde! He's the one with the money, the one with the stalker, the one with the personality. All Clyde has going for him is that stupid face of his. Other than that, he's a waste of taxpayer money.
Clyde almost laughed but, he managed to stop it by biting his cheek. He was actually surprised that that was her reason. Normally, it's the opposite. In situations like this, she would have seen him as someone not worthy of his beloved Archer. What does he have going for him? He's not attractive, he clearly lacked money, and he's grumpy all the time. Yeah, he's aware of his inclination towards irritation. He has nothing going for him besides job stability. Meanwhile, Archer... Archer, despite his very obvious deficiencies, has someone who likes him and that's enough because nobody ever liked Clyde.
"He clearly has his shit together and, you do not. " She explained.
Archer crossed his arms. "I do have my shit together." He spoke and stomped his foot on the ground.
"Who are you fooling? not me, Honey." She slyly smiled while shrugging.
Archer squinted his eyes."Do you really like me or this whole stalker thing is just some cult's plan to make my life harder?" He genuinely asked.
"What cult? and I am not a stalker, I never followed you anywhere. By some weird coincidence, I got transferred to your workplace." She explained.
"You followed me home." While the two were arguing, Clyde took out his phone. He opened an app that was basically an online scrabble. It was finally his turn to make a move. He needed at least a 30-letter word to beat the gap between him and someone called btrhair21. They always managed to beat Clyde. He can never get a winning streak from them. It was always alternate, he wins one match then they win the next one.
"Did I? My realtor showed me available units in the area and, I stopped by here for food where you happen to see me., Honey" She said, leaving out the part where she insisted her realtor to check this area. Besides Archer being here, it does have a direct train line to their workplace and a few of their mutual friends live close by. So no, she's not entirely a stalker that Archer labels her to be.
"Quit calling me that, you're making my partner jealous." He pointed at Clyde who was still on his phone.
Stella looked at Clyde who could not make it any clearer that he does not have any interest in whatever is going on from his face alone. "It does not look like it."
Archer glanced at him and saw he was preoccupied with some game. He sneakily kicked his leg to get a reaction out of him. " I am, I'm just good at hiding it. " Clyde answered and hid his phone back in his pocket.
"Oh, like how you're good at hiding your feelings for him?" She passive-aggressively asked with a smile.
Clyde gritted his teeth. All he wanted to do was sleep but from the way things are going, it seemed like he won't be getting what he wanted. He placed his arm around Archer's shoulder and pushed him close to him. "Look, I don't know why I even need to prove to you that I am in a relationship with him."
"Because if you don't prove how serious you are, I'm going to steal him from you."
"He can't be stolen. He's a person." He sneered. What is wrong with her? Archer clearly doesn't like her and she has no right to demand anything. Why is Archer even submitting to her whims? If it were up to Clyde, he would have let her think whatever she wants.
Archer rolled his eyes. "We've been through this, I can never like you. We've tried it for a week and nothing. " Ever since they were in Highschool, Stella has been in love with him. She immediately confessed when she had the chance. He simply nodded and they dated for a week. He quickly called things off when he knew he was not going to feel anything for her. After that, she followed him around and kept on asking him for another shot.
Meanwhile, Clyde was burning. Archer never told him that she was an Ex. He kept on labelling her as a stalker. It would have been nice to know that so he can exit this farce quicker. She's an ex and Archer must have been an amazing partner if she still can't get over him.
"Then why did you date other girls longer than me? The longest one was 3 months. You could've learned to like me in 3 months."
"How did you know I dated girls longer than you? That's definitely stalker-ish." Archer huffed.
Clyde wondered just how many women Archer had dated? He was baffled by how many wanted to date Archer. Well, He's Archer! His stupid and insufferable roommate. The man couldn't even be bothered to straighten his shoes by the doorway, can't even cover his mouth when he yawns.
"Just answer me." She impatiently spoke. God, this Stella-person was getting on Clyde's nerve. Who is she to demand anything? If anyone has the right to, it's him, for being dragged into this farce.
"I felt something after a week. That's it. So will you stop?"
She shifted her eyes at Clyde. "Do you feel something for him?"
"Yes, and I don't want it to be ruined by you."
"I want proof of this something, and I'll stop."
Clyde was close to exploding. Again, why do they need to prove anything to her?! This is insane. This is mental. He needs his sleep. Please let him sleep. He had done his public duty for the day. Is that not enough? Do these people even pay their taxes? He should've slept at the poorly maintained quarters they have at the office. He'll stomach the strong smell of cockroach poison, ignore the questionably unremovable stains on the sheets, he'll lay his head on that very flat pillow, he'll risk bug bites---not he's not, that's too far. He has to do something. He has to do it.
"Hey, loser. " Clyde called, Archer met his eyes. He leaned closer and locked his lips against Archer's. Archer was surprised, his body stiffened. He felt his face burning. He could taste a hint of cigarette from his mouth, it made him want to pull back, but he still found himself responding to his kiss.
Clyde looked at her "Now, was that enough?" He asked with confidence, wondering where the fuck that came from. He hasn't kissed people in a long while. If Archer makes fun of him later on, he swears to God he will fight him. Consequences be damned. He has had enough.
Archer faintly touched his lips as he glanced at Clyde. His face was pale and normal, not red like his. He wondered if the kiss even had any effect on Clyde. He wanted him to show a hint of embarrassment or any emotion for that matter. Who spontaneously kisses someone and does not feel anything? Psychopaths, tax-wasting psychopaths. One thing's for sure, he learned something new about his roommate. One, he did not want the knowledge of, would surely haunt him in his sleep. Clyde Carter knows how to kiss good and the person who taught him how to, ought to die.
But, he's not better than Archer though. Certainly not.
"Fine." She crossed her arms, jealousy tickling her skin. "If this doesn't work out, call me." She winked at Clyde.
"What?" Clyde was baffled. Stella was a mystery he does not want to touch with a sixty-foot pole.
"It looked good." She smirked.
A wave of possessiveness wrapped Archer's skin. "Stay away from him!" He blocked Clyde's body with his arm as if that would do any help.
"We're leaving." He snarled and grabbed Archer, who was too dazed at whatever stupid idiots are dazed about. Great, just great.
