Emily didn't see her at first, when she sprinted down to the very alley where she had left her and the crazed murderer. "Abbie?" But only the pounding rain around her could be heard. As she peered further down into the darkness, she saw the man who had kept them captive all this time lying on the ground, blood seeping from his head into the muddy ground, the rain creating ripples in the reddish brown pool, causing it to spread further like a stain upon the earth.
Gagging, Emily cautiously stepped over him, and continued to look around. God, there was blood everywhere. It was splattered all over the brick walls on the sides of her, the graffiti painted in a coat of red. She noticed one spot in particular; a blood covered lump against the wall with a wave of red spread behind it like the bloodied remnants of wings.
"Abbie?" With a sinking feeling in her chest, she walked up to the lump, and indeed, the face it wore was no other than Abbie's. Slumped against the wall, blood oozing out of her chest like a heartbeat, her usual blue green eyed gleam had been replaced with a sullen look, Emily's reflection clearly visible in her now mirror like eyes. Emily knelt down in the bloody puddle before her and shook Abbie vigorously, shouting, 'Wake up. Wake up, please!" She felt salty tears streaming down her face as she continued to cry out, "Please... don't die! I.. I can't-"
The trucker that she had brought with her finally caught up, and seeing the scene and Emily shaking the lifeless thing, pulled out his phone and started dialing 911. As his concerned voice echoed down the alley, it was then that she felt a wet bloodied hand grab her arm.
"Heh..." muttered Abbie, as she saw her own dying reflection in Emily's wide eyes, "I thought you were... too selfish to care for anyone else... so what... the hell are you doing here?"
