Later, around 5:00, her father came home, dinner was ready, and everyone was happy. Until they weren't. Stressed about work, her father went out for a drink, and of course came back drunk. Before that whole Charade, Elanor's mother made sure to hide her. In his drunken state, the man said some rather distasteful things, things to horrible to repeat. Having enough of this, the mother devised a plan. So as the father recovered the next day, Elanor and her mother snuck out.
A couple hours later, they arrived at an orphanage. The mother, crying and hugging her child, let go and knocked. Promising Elanor she'd be back for her, the mother ran as the front door opened. A sweet childlike voice came from the doorway. As Elanor turned to it, she spoke. "Hello, I'm Elanor, But you can call me Rat if you'd like." Her father would call her that sometimes. Then an older woman came to the doorway and picked up the other child, asking what Elanor was doing their. "Mama put me here, she said I'll be staying." And with that, she walked right in past the child and woman.
The place was quite large, one of those smaller on the outside, bigger on the inside type of places. Almost everything in the building was made made out of dark oak wood and bricks, which was a surprise to Elanor, since those items were quite expensive. There were many doors and hallways, which was to be expected of a building that housed many children. There was even a large staircase right in the middle of the room, a little out of place. The other children and house maids came down to see what the fuss was all about, all looking a bit surprised after spotting Elanor. Some children came up to her and greeted her, other stayed back and and muttered stuff about her rather large eyes, and long lanky limbs, resulting in the nickname, bug girl. Elanor didn't mind, after all, her own father often called her a filthy rat.
