Time passed and that key was nowhere to be found. I had searched every inch in that bedroom. His room was got colder, I decided to close the window. As I went to close it, I could see the sun setting, I was running out of time. I was tired, it time for a short break. I sat down on a chair by his desk. Unlike the rest of the room, his desk was spotless. I guess that's where he spends most of his time when he's in his room, he likes to do a lot of research. I tried to use his desktop but it required a password. I turn the desktop off and started to look around his desk. I reached out and grabbed a picture frame on his desk, it had a picture of me as a child. It bothers me that I can’t remember a single thing from my childhood but I shouldn’t bother with the past. While I was holding the picture frame something felt odd about it. It felt as if there was something wedged inside it. When I opened the frame a folded up note and a key fell out. I was so happy, this could have been the key I needed, I was about to open the note I heard the front door open, it was my father. I put the frame back in place and left the room.
“Hi dad how was work?” I greeted him while trying not look suspicious. “Great, but I still need to fill out a lot of paperwork, I’m going to be in my office. Let me know if you need anything” he said as he left, “alright, I’ll just be in my room studying, bye”. I walked back to my room. I guessed I would have to wait until he left tomorrow to try to open the door but mean while I can read the note. I locked my door to avoid him walking in. I opened the note, it said: “Everything must be hidden away, we can’t bring back those memories of that tragic day”
“What tragic day?” I whispered, “what did he mean… w-what could have happened?”. I wasn't sure if my father was hiding something or not, but now I had to find out was inside that room, it might hold the answers. I need to know what tragedy my father was trying to hide and why.
