I raise my eyebrows. “Would you rather like to be the person closest to me?”

He smiles, then burries his head in his legs for a second.

“That´s not it. I will be. I will accompany you for your whole life, of course I will be closest to you. I just don´t like the wait and everything that comes in between.”

“You do realize I might have other Relationships, too?”

He leans down to me, a teasing grin on his lips.

“Why would you? I can give you everything you need.”

I hear the sexual undertone in what he says, and that makes me pull back into my covers.

“No, thank you. You´re literally a stranger.”

“Yeah.”, he sighs, sitting back up, “just like I said.”

I narrow my eyebrows with how casually he assumes how close of a companion he will be – and how he´s not entirely wrong to do so, either, since he will be around me my entire life. What a weird thought.

“Honestly,”, I start again, half heatedly realizing that I should not talk this openly with my demon, definitely not after only meeting him a few days ago.

“I feel sorry for you. You´re stuck with me. You never had a choice.”

A shiver runs through his body, and the expression of surprise is sculpted into his face when he finally looks down at me. My Demon, a thing, lower than my dog, is surprised that I can grasp his supposed inner struggle.

“What,”, I say, raising an eyebrow, “did you think I wouldn´t be able to think that far? However deep your thoughts even run, that´s a pretty horrible life.”

“No.”, he replies, still looking slightly confused, but also amused. “What you just said falls under the “grande Tabus” of a Master and Demon relationships. You were never supposed to say that to me. It might give me ideas.”

I snicker.

“Oh, come on. Like you never think that.”

He keeps staring at me while I tuck myself further into my bed, my head still slightly spinning from the fever.

“Well, “Master”, If I´d admit to thinking that, you would have to severely punish me, so I´d rather not answer that.”

“Stop talking then. I´m tired anyways.”

I can hear his little laugh trough my sheets.

“No.”, he then says, very quietly,

“I could have really done worse than you.”

Sleepiness fills my mind, but I can still feel the smile on my cheeks.
