-Bomb guy,- Charlie was waken up by Alex, who had pushed him up from his sleep. Charlie was surprised to see the pale young man from up so close, and he even saw a similarity to Onay's face. Both had blue pale eyes, and their hairs were similar tones of white and grey, yet Onay's skin and lips had colour, contrary to Alex.
-Yeah?- Charlie answered, still in sleep trance. He wanted to believe he had paid attention during the history class, but being alone in the dark was a sleep sesion waiting to be taken.
-Can you make an explosion at the tent's door?- Alex asked Charlie, but considered his question unlikely to be answered when Charlie raised his eyebrow.- Alright, a safer way to get us out of here would be to lift the place up.- He turned to Clara.
-Alex, I can't blow this like a balloon if the floor is attached.- The blonde girl had tightened her ponytail, and dropped it down her spine. Charlie admired how she could keep her hair so clean.-All the children will float up with it.
Charlie could then feel his fee shake.
He had never been in an earthquake, but he thought this was likely it. His inner desire for survival forced him to drop to the ground, where many other kids met him, but neither Clara nor Alex followed suit. They raised their heads up, as if to blame a god, but corrected themselves towards the tent door.
-Penny, I know the rules specifically state we are never to use sharp tools, and you need to imagine dull blades, but for this one time, could you break that rule?- Even in the situation they were in, where the tent could collapse, beds could fall, and children could panic (A horrible thing to expierence), both the blonde and the pale remained unbothered, keeping a firm stance, and asking children to calmly use their abilities.
They knew it was not a drill, even Charlie, having been so little time there, knew it was no practice. Soemthing was going on out there, and he worried what it was, considering Juniper was outside, posibly with Onay and perhaps even Claire. Could the leader cause earthquakes? He didn't believe so. And this didn't feel like the city stampede, so it was not Juniper's fault either.
The girl who had made the structure for the show stepped closer. Charlie wondered what she could imagine. Structures and tools? Perhaps she could imagine metals, but Charlie could only wonder and he saw the girl move her hands and head in a terrified manner.
-Penny, trust yourself.- Clara holded the girl's hands. She had been shaking them, extending both of her indexes and moving her right hand down, almoust desperately. But Charlie couldn't understand how holding a mute's hands was any helpful to their relaxation. He would not have liked it if someone put a hand over his mouth when he tried to complain.
The girl backed away, and didn't dare to raise her chin, but extended her hands and closed her eyes nevertheless. As she closed her palms into fists, a small dagger-like tool appeared in her hands. It was shinny, almoust a pale tone of blue, and was decorated simply but graceously. Clara didn't hesitate to take it.
She jogged to the edge of the tent, close to the door but not cutting it. Instead, she cut arround the edges, following the circumference of the tent until she had done a semicircle.
-We'll fix this when we're done. Now everyone, imagine whatever you wish, but prepare for self defence.- Clara added through calmed breathing.
Charlie would have expected her to say battle, but even with deffence, he didn't know what she was talking about.
-Clara, Alex, you've been here for many years. What's going on?- Charlie asked, not able to keep his question in any longer.
Alex answered, an inclusive answer in a loud tone, to let the children know the situation.
-The current events are a claim for leadership. We have been expecting this to happen, but only in the morning and in a peaceful way. Yesterdays's party was to celebrate today. Onay's twentieth birthday.- Charlie almoust laughed when he said that. The leader didn't even look seventeen.- As it has been a rule for many years, that's an age to leave the camp. Our children can come back, but not ourselves.- Charlie noted how Alex said that word. He was also close to such an age, and his sad blue eyes compared to the brightness they had had when he taught the children... It was a hard view. A destructive one of missery.
-Now, we would have to deffend Onay, but in reality, we can defend whoever we want. We are wolves, defending the pride, but not the leader. The alpha is only chosen by ourselves, and considering the leader's family, this is a battle, not a discussion.- Clara took the word, pulling the tent's cloth under her feet to let space between the walls and the wet, grassy floor.- Us olders will fight for Onay, and if we win, we get to choose a new leader, or even keep the Wolf. But if the children choose to set a new course, one where they feel superior, one where they think we should pass down the best to generations, but surrender ourselves, then Onay's sibling may rise.
-A strong kid, at least as we have been told. Onay was preparing for this day with us, but nobody can force the children to follow orders.- Alex chuckled sadly. He had probably raised most of these kids, and now, even under this same roof, they could not manage to harm hidden traitors.
-The roof will rise, and the battlefield will be flooded by both tents. Us older kids will defend Onay. Who will you defend?- Clara made it a careful choice not to use the word adult, but her tone was of that one's determination.
-I'll fight for peace, even if it means putting Juniper on the throne.
