(Aiden's POV)
"I wonder what Jayden was so afraid of..." Dylan wondered, his sentence trailing off as he went into deep thought of what was going on. Hunters' arms wrapped tighter around Dylan's waist as he leaned against the counter.
"Yeah, he looked really scared. I'm worried that that woman is going to hurt him or something. I have a really bad feeling about this. I feel like I should have stayed just to make sure he was okay." I said, trying to think of other alternatives about his mothers attitude that didn't lead to violence.
"Well I heard footsteps coming from inside so maybe he was trying to hide us from the woman who came to the door?" Alex asked, not really expecting an answer to his question.
"I heard them too but I don't know, maybe he just really wanted us to leave?" Cameron said. I shook my head and continued thinking.
"Well whoever she is, we know she is his parent or guardian of some sort. She might just be really strict on Jayden for some reason and maybe that's why she had an attitude with him."
"Yesterday, I overheard some girls talking about Jayden saying that he's an only child who lives with his widowed mother. But they said that his mom was crazy and should be locked up for insanity." Dylan said.
"Well that leaves us with more questions than answers. We should just go to his house and see for ourselves. You don't think she's abusive do you?" Cameron asked.
"I don't know, all I heard was that she wasn't the same after her husband died." Dylan replied.
We all went silent after that. We didn't know if Jayden was in danger being with his mother. I mean she did lose her husband so she might have just fallen off the wagon after that. It was scary not knowing what was going on with your mate. He was so close yet so far.
"I'm going to go check on him. Alex and Cameron come with me , Hunter and Dylan hold down the fort." I said as I ran out of the house.
I stripped down and folded my clothes over a tree branch so I could come back for them later before shifting into my all black wolf. Alex and Cameron did the same, shifting into their light brown wolves. With that, we began running through the woods, making our way to my mates house.

When the house finally came into view, we could see some lights on downstairs. I tuned in on the sound inside and heard a lot of yelling and what sounded like glass shattering.
I linked with the twins, telling them to check out the sides of the house and peek through the windows while I looked in the back.
I slowly crept up to the window, peeking inside to see Jayden's kitchen.
Inside, there was a woman shouting something as she held a plate. She yelled something more before throwing the plate at a cowering Jayden who was a ball of fear on the floor.
"What did I tell you Jayden?! I gave you one rule! One rule! You can't make friends! You can't leave me too! You can't, you can't, you can't, I won't let you!" She yelled hysterically before falling to her knees in a fit of tears.
Jayden looked so upset as he carefully dodged the glass shards that were all over the floor. He knelt before his unstable mother and pulled her into a hug. She wrapped her arms around him and sobbed loudly into his shoulder. Her shoulders were shaking and her hair was disheveled. She probably hadn't bathed in a couple days either. I heard Jayden trying to soothe her, gently petting her frizzed hair down.
"It's okay mom, I'm not leaving. I'm not going anywhere. I promise. I love you. I would never leave you." He said, kissing her head softly before continuing to hug her. She sobbed even louder.
Are you seeing this? I heard Cameron ask. I told him yes and continued observing.
She's mentally ill. She needs serious help. Alex's said, staring from the other side of the house at the strange 'family'.
I don't know but what are we going to do about Jayden? We can't just walk away after seeing this. This is abuse, even if she isn't physically hurting him. Cameron said.
We're going to have to wait until his mom goes to sleep, then I'll talk to him. I said before ending the mind link.
~
It was about an hour later since the incident. Jayden just put his mother to bed after bathing her and giving her some sort of medications. They were probably anti-depressant pills. He even took the time to clean up all of the glass on the floor and replaced the plates his mother had broken as well. He was probably used to taking care of her and that's why he was so good at it. That thought broke my heart.
He didn't leave her bedside until she was fully asleep. I could tell he truly cared for her even though she had episodes like tonight.
When Jayden was sure his mother was taken care of, he went to his room, flopping down onto his bed.
I could hear the faintest sound of crying from outside his window. My heart was shattering for him. My mate shouldn't have to experience this kind of pain. I shifted to a human before getting dressed in the clothes Alex had brought with him before knocking on his window.
I heard him jolt on his bed as he slowly approached the window.I knocked again as he gasped from fright.
"Jayden, it's me Aiden." I said, hopefully reassuring him that I wasn't some creep banging on his window so late at night. He opened his curtains before slapping his hand over his mouth so he could block his squeak of fright. Suddenly a peach cloud of smoke flooded his room before his little white bunny was revealed.
"Sorry Jay, I didn't mean to scare you. Can you open the window please?" He recovered himself and shifted back before throwing open the window.
"What are you doing? You shouldn't be here! If my mom sees you it will be really bad." He cried as he tried figuring out my purpose for showing up.
"I came back because I was worried about you. I was afraid you were going to get in trouble with your mom when she saw all of us here." I explained, moving us to the bed.
His face started to pale as he looked at me.
"How long have you been here? Did you see..." He didn't seem to be able to finish his senence as he stared into his lap, wringing his wrist with the other hand.
"I saw. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on your privacy or anything. I just wanted to make sure you were safe and my worry got the best of me. Truly, Jayden I wasn't spying on you or anything." I said, hoping he knew I was being sincere.
He sighed before swiping a hand down his face.
"I really didn't want anyone to see that. I didn't even want you guys to see my house but I wanted to walk home with you. I'm sorry you had to see something so horrific. Please just keep this between us. Some people at school know of my mothers... Condition. That's already too many people." He said as he rubbed his temples.
I could tell he wasn't upset with me for being here but I knew he wanted to keep his mother a secret that he would take with him to the grave.
I placed my hand on his cheek, rubbing my thumb over his cheekbone.
"Of course, Jay. I won't tell a soul."
We were interrupted when someone cleared their throat from behind us. Jayden jumped a mile while I frowned at them for ruining the moment. The twins just smirked at me before sitting on the floor.
"What are you guys doing here?" He asked, sounding stressed.
"I asked them to come with me, I didn't want to come alone in case the situation was more complicated than I was thinking." I said, mentally kicking those two for coming inside the house when I wanted them to wait outside for me.
"Aiden, I don't think you understand. I didn't want anyone knowing. People are already starting rumors at school and I've only been there for a couple days. I don't want a huge group of people knowing. I don't know them like that, if they say something about this to anyone I'm going to have to start over again at another school. I'm not going through that again."
"We were just worried about you Jay-"
"I don't need anyone worrying about me! My biggest secret has been exposed and I have already done too much to keep it hidden. This is the reason why I left my old school. I couldn't take it anymore. It's just going to happen all over again." He snapped, holding his head in his hands.
I didn't know what to say. I felt horrible for making him feel bad but I also wanted him to trust me.
"Please just leave. I want to be alone right now." He sighed, getting off of the bed and walking to the other side of the room where we couldn't see his face.
I sighed guiltily before trudging out of his bedroom, not wanting to upset him more.
What have I done?
~
(Jayden's POV)
I can't believe my secret is out. There aren't that many schools left over for me to transfer to. I'm so tired of having to move to different schools because my mother is mentally unstable.
I sighed as I combed my fingers through my hair, trying to figure out what to do. I laid down on my bed and decided to text Sage about it, I'm sure he could help me shed some light on the situation.
Omg are you serious? I'm so sorry Jay-Jay. I can't believe he came to your house! That's so weird! At least one good thing came out of this; you found your mate. He just happens to be a little insensitive at the moment. Sage replied as I told him about everything that happened today from start to finish.
Yeah I know. Like wouldn't you respect your friends (or whatever we are) privacy? I mean I understand that he had the best intentions at heart but I can't get over the fact that I might have to change schools, again!! I replied, feeling my frustration dwindle just a little bit.
Well you have every right to be upset. He invaded your privacy and discovered something that he didn't need to know. I would first thoroughly explain what made you so upset and try to mend the situation. I mean, he is your mate after all and he's really cute! He said. I could practically feel the smirk on the other side of the phone I was sure he was wearing.
Yeah, I'll try. I'm going to go to bed. I'll see you tomorrow. Thank you for talking to me, Sage, I really appreciate it.
Anytime, my love nugget!
And with that we ended our conversation.
