Walking down the path, I spot Ceceile sitting on a park bench. Gathering up my courage, I go over to her. “Hello.” Sitting down beside her, I start watching the people passing by with her.
Without even glancing at she me, she starts speaking. “Sometimes I wish I could be more like those people. Someone with no worries in the world, they can do many more things than I could imagine doing.” She finally turned to me, giving me a forced smile. I could not say anything after that I had no idea what could say, so I remained silent.
We just sat there in silence for what felt like ages. When she finally got up, it was like that never happened, she was back to her cheerful self. “Let's take a walk” after saying that she starts walking away. After catching up to her she said, “so what is it that you would like to ask me?” How did she know? After a couple of seconds she glances over at me and smiles. Realizing I was staring a quickly look away.
“I was wondering what you knew about the bonds you talked about last time.”
“First tell me what you know about them.”
“Okay” taking a break to think back I recall what Maggie said. “The physical bond connects you to your soulmate and nobody know what the right one connects you to, but there are a lot of theory's.”
“Do you believe any of the theory's?” We had made it out of the town and stopped walking at this point.
“No, they all seem wrong” thinking back to all the things I heard they might stand for, none of then sound right.
“That's because you already know, everybody knows what both of them stand for unconsciously, but since humans have a need of knowledge' they want to bring it out to the light so they find something that sounds right and fills it in with something that makes sense. The physical bond does not just connect you to your soulmate, it connects you to everyone you love, including your family and friends too. The difference between these bonds and the one that connects you to your soulmate is you can break them and make them fairly easy. A common way to break a tie is for one of you to feel betrayed by the other, and a common way to make them is for both you to feel loved by the other.”
Confused, I ask “why did I not feel that that theory was wrong if I knew what it truly did would I have not known it was not right?”
“That's because it was not wrong it was just not fully right. It is easier to know one plus three equals two is wrong than knowing one plus blank equals two is wrong.”
What she said made a lot of since to me, like she tailored her answer to make sure I could understand. “Okay, what about the spiritual bond?”
“That one connects you to the soul pool, the place you go after you die to be reborn.” After that, she stopped talking.
After waiting for a few seconds I say “is that all, I was expecting another long explanation”
“Well this one is not that complicated.” after saying that she Puts on a serious expression and look me right in the eye. “Now you can ask me what you really want to know”
“what happened to make people turn immortal?”
