The bullet cracked past the sound barrier. Her eyes were filled with hatred as she mercilessly slashed the armed men. They had no time to utter any cries as they fell out of life’s grasp. Unbearably hot fire spewed from her unhinged jaws before she whisked herself towards her old friend. Shrike’s blank eyes looked towards her as his gun was leveled towards her heart.
“Shrike! Don’t do it!” She cried desperately. He switched safety off. She shifted into her wolf and howled. He readjusted the gun, but she noticed his eyes cleared a bit. He pulled the trigger and an enemy fell behind her with a thump.
“I would never hurt you Orca!” He exclaimed, firing down men left and right. Since the two were shifters, they moved with unnatural speed, able to react and move away from a bullet before it hit. They dashed through the cell block, whooping, they ran through the woods. She yelled with joy, and looked at her fellow shifter, wondering why he was quiet suddenly. She stared at a bloody hole that pierced his heart as he fell to the ground. “I am sorry Orca. Make it. Survive for the both of us.” His eyes grew dim and his joints stiffened. Recognition fled and his lifeless body shriveled up into nothing more than a crystal tear. Orca picked up the tear and howled with agony and sadness.
