Recap:
The pirate walked a way.
"Farewell to the both of you! Don't worry, I won't say a word about
your marriage!"
The man and his younger wife looked surprised.
--------
Claire sees a man and a woman with a broken glass object.
The woman has red hair in a spiky pony tail. Blue, short tank top and long,
black skirt. Orange ribbon tied in a bow on her waist. The undershirt is just
as short in the color black.
She's mad at a much taller male, who was only slightly tan with short, black
hair and a blue outfit. He was crying with an apologetic face.
"I'm sorry sis-"
"This black woman doesn't want to hear it!"
"But-"
"No! Mama's present is broken and now we can't face her. Clean this up,
while I fix the wagon. Humph!"
--------------
Claire tentatively approaches the woman.
"Excuse me, but do you know any ship captains in need of temporary help?"
"Depends, what do you know?", she deadpans.
"Cleaning, cooking, steering...."
"You can sail?"
"Yes, my mother taught me before dying."
The woman contemplated.
"Alright, but there is no one. Where are you headed?"
"Don't know, anywhere but home. I can't go where I'm found."
"Crimes?"
"None, they're the badies."
"Better hope that's the truth. I'll sneak you onto ours, but keep it clean."
"Yes, my lady."
"No formality needed, call me Mattie and he is Maxie, my brother. Get in the
barrel and we can go."
---------------------
While Claire is in the barrel, Maxie lifts it up and places it on his shoulder.
The inside of the barrel was more uncomfortable than she thought,
yet had enough space to have oxygen to flow through her lungs.
The height of Maxie and the light of the sun worked to cover Claire in
shadow. They carefully walked to the docking bay. Mattie paid the fee to the
dock master.
A short haired man with a braid on the side and face paint. A well kept suit
donned by him as well as an expression of tire. His face had two dots on
each cheek and three dots above both brows.
Once on the ship and the sky barely showing any sign of the evening, the
barrel was placed on the floor carefully next to a door. Which leads to the
interior of the ship.
Claire pops her head up, when she felt that it was all clear and no one would
see her.
------------------------------
"This is it. Anyone asks and you are the cabin girl. Completely forgettable."
"Yes, Mattie. What should I do to establish that I belong here?"
"Don't ask me, I don't know. Figure it out yourself, but you can ask me for
help, except dishes. I hate that."
"Understood, I'll go look around! Bye."
"Bye, then."
The ship was nicely sized for a trade ship. In fact, it had five sails. Medium
sized. The number of workers are about fifty or maybe 80 crew members,
not including her. The stowaway!
--------------------
*She marvels at the vast sea and the line where it meets the sky with an
open smile. She strolls on the deck of the ship, next to the middle.
A person in the distance, stares at her from behind.
---------------------
"What a beautiful sky."
"And very unpredictable."
