She walked into room 212 only moments before the bell rang. She walked to a desk in the front of the room and sat down. She took out the textbook for this class and her binder.
The teacher walked in the classroom, smiling. He had a beautiful bright smile, and sparkling green eyes. She never saw such beautiful green eyes before. Usually she hated green eyes. He was tall with short dark hair and a short beard just on his chin. He was gorgeous. Was she seriously fancying a teacher? No, she had to stop. "Good morning class. I see that most of you are old students, that I know, but I see that one of you has just joined East Bay High. What's your name young lady?"
"Me..."
"Yes." He smiled, and the whole class laughed and made stupid faces. "Class, don't think I won't give extra homework on the first day. Behave yourselves. Young lady, your name?"
"Ethelinda Mr. Thompson."
"Well Ethelinda, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"What kind of stupid name is Etheline?"
"Its Ethelinda, and it's a Romany gypsy name."
"You're one of those, you're such a freak." The whole class laughed.
"Britney, detention today, and everyone else who laughed is getting another chapter in their books due tomorrow. I expect that there will be no more bullying towards Ethelinda." He smiled and started teaching.
Class had ended and Mr. Thompson called her over. "Ethelinda, would you stay a minute after class?"
"Yes Mr. Thompson? You wanted to see me?"
"I just wanted to tell you, don't listen to Britney. She could make a gorilla laugh. She has the whole school wrapped around her finger. And I have to say, I think you have a lovely name." He smiled. The bell rang.
"Ugh, second time I'll be late today. I already have detention for three days. Yeah, my home room teacher hates me."
"Here, take a late slip. It says that you were with me."
"Thank you Mr. Thompson. See you tomorrow."
"Goodbye Ethelinda." He smiled, and stared at her as she was leaving. He couldn't help but start to look lower on her body. What the hell Eric! She's a student. A hot student, but that's beside the point!
The day had passed to lunch time, and she hoped the day wouldn't get worst. She walked with her chilli, and Britney whispered to a football player. He pushed the plate and it went all over her. She screeched at the pain of the burning heat on her chest. She froze... "You jerk!" She ran off crying to her locker. She quickly opened it and grabbed the white tank top from her gym bag. Next thing she knew, there were a group of people recording her. "Screw off!" She cried and ran to the bathroom.
She stood in the small stall, and took off her shirt. She tossed it in the trash, it was ruined. She gently touched her fingers to her burnt chest. It was red, and there were a few blisters here and there. She sat in the corner of the stall, topless, in pain, angry... She couldn't help but cry. She spent five minutes just crying.
She walked to the vending machine and put in two one's. She bought a bag of pretzels and a bottle of Apple juice. She sat on a bench outside of room 116 eating her... lunch... if you would call a hundred and fifty calories lunch. She looked to her watch, and started to her next class.
The day ended, and she walked over to the bike rack. She looked, and screamed. She exploded. First three days of detention for no God damn reason, then some girl bullying her, then some jerk spills burning hot chilli on her, now her bike was in pieces on the ground. She stormed home, crying and jumping onto her bed screaming.
Her mom walked in, confused. "Didn't you have a good first day?"
"Oh the fucking opposite."
"Ethelinda Rose Stewarts!"
"First I was two seconds late to class because it was on the fifth floor and I couldn't breathe. Then some kids bullied me because I'm a Romany gypsy. Then this kid practically threw hot chilli on me. My shirt is ruined and I have blisters and raw skin on my chest. Then I go outside and my bike is in fucking pieces! I am never going back!" She screamed and cried.
She started gasping for air, rushing to find her enhailer. Her mother found it and gave it to her. She hurried and took four slow puffs. She sat on her bed, scared, crying, trying to calm down and breathe. "Ethelinda, never be ashamed of who you are. You come from great people. You are beautiful. Don't let them break you down."
"I'm trying mama, it's just so hard."
