Archer grumpily woke up, his body aching and his eyes dry. He slowly turned his head to the clock. It was already 9 am. His eyes popped as he let out a sharp breath. He was already late. He got up and felt the blanket slide off his back and into the floor. He picked it up and wondered how it got on his back. He shrugged and sluggishly changed his clothes. Rushing was pointless when he was already late. His pay was already getting docked, there’s nothing he can do about it, might as well take his sweet time.
He grabbed his black satchel and shoved in the papers he needed for the day. He went to the kitchen and found a note sticking on the fridge.
'I tried to wake you up, but you wouldn't budge like the lazy ass you are- C.' The note read.
"You should've tried harder." He removed the note and unconsciously hid it in his pocket.
He grabbed paper and pen from the top of the fridge and wrote:
So the grouchy policeman can't even handle a single wake-up call? How are you supposed to handle the whole city?- A
He stuck it in the fridge and left without eating. He wasn’t in the mood to eat anything. It was too late for breakfast and too early for brunch, he opted to wait for lunchtime instead. He hopped on his beaten-up car and lazily drove to school. It was already 10:15 am when he arrived. Kids were greeting him as he walked up the hallway. They were giving him thumbs up for being late. Some were joking that he should also be doing laps outside like them when they're late. Being one of the popular teachers in the school was pretty weird for him. He never did anything special. He doesn't like the attention. He just wants to exist on the sidelines.
"Teacher! So we are having class today!" A student cheerily approached him when he passed the room he should have been teaching in.
"Sadly. I'll be back after I drop things off the faculty."
The faculty room was only two classrooms away. He slid the door open and everyone inside looked at him.
"And this is the what? The third time you've been late this month?" His colleague rhetorically asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Excuse you, but this is the first time I've been late this month. Lou, you seem to be forgetting today's the first week of the month." He spoke as he walked to his desk. He slumped in his chair and heavily sighed.
"Don't call me Lou, it sounds like what the British call their toilets, It's Louis, Archibald." He pointed out.
"How many times do I have to tell you, Archer isn’t short for anything?”
Louis smiled and patted him on the back."Now, now ‘bald. Let's not get caught up with this and that. " Louis is not even trying to get on his nerves, it's just the way he is. Stupid.
Archer rolled his eyes in reply and lightly yanked Louis' hair when he walked past him.
"Don't yank my beautiful hair." He said as he ran his fingers through them.
"Chop it off so I won't be able to do it." He took out the contents of his bag and stacked it neatly on his desk.
"I'll chop it off when you get a stable relationship." He cockily laughed.
"I am going to cut it off." He checked his calendar and saw there aren't any meetings or deadlines for this week.
Louis' mouth dropped to the ground along with his heart. "No, No, you aren't." He nervously spoke and once again run his fingers through his hair.
"But I am." He sweetly smiled and collected his things.
Before Louis can keep on contradicting him, he had already left the room.
"Teacher! " Lea enthusiastically greeted as he entered. Until this day, he does not know why she is this energetic every time she sees him. He was never like that when he was in High school, every time he saw a teacher he’d just sigh and wish for the class to end.
"I knew you wouldn't be absent today! " She added.
"By now you should have known that I overslept." He placed the stack of papers on someone's desk.
"Hand out these disappointing quizzes to your classmates, John " He ordered. Half of the class didn't even manage to pass the quiz. Out of twenty-five, only two students passed it, John and Mira.
"You guys should study harder. I'm getting tired of drawing x's and question marks on your papers. Come on, how hard is it to convert measurements, estimate costs and create a recipe for cookies?" He complained. Most of the class sighed when they saw their scores while there were others who didn't bother to know their scores. Only John and Mira were smiling.
Lea raised her hand. He looked at her and gave a nod as a signal for permission to speak.
She stood up. "Teacher! Maybe you shouldn't give us quizzes if it's giving you a hard time?"
"I can't do that, I have a lesson plan to follow." He took his whiteboard marker and proceeded to write 'Cakes'
" Then don't follow the lesson plan?" She asked back.
" The higher-ups will go all up in my ass" He bitterly replied.
John raised his hands, Archer shot him a look" Teacher, I think you shouldn't say ass. "
"I'll use the word ass when I want to okay?" He snarled.
" Are we talking about asses here?" Stella’s head popped in the door. She noticed Archer and entered the classroom. "Oh, my, Teacher Archer! I did not know that this lovely bunch was your class!"
"Please do not disturb my class.”
