The rest of the time Amythst spent there was an awkward silence with Joy sitting at the table quietly eating the lunch Danse made who had somehow disappeared immediately right after. He didn’t know how he could be friends with Joy or what could they even talk about.
They weren’t the same race and his magic skills were practically nothing compared too. There was something, however, that could bring the two together. But that was too risky. His parents always said that he was too young to do anything of that matter.
He continued to eat his lunch with his eyes peering down at the strawberry covered egg tortilla, filled with warm cheese and ham. Every so often he would take the chance and glance over at Joy whose eyes were now a sultry blue. When he finished his food, he took his plate over to the small sink area. Without another word, he headed for the door.
“Hopefully we’ll see you again.” The voice of Danse spoke and he turned around to see her standing right behind him.
“Perhaps…” he uncertainly nodded his head.
He stepped out of the house and began to walk down the small dirt hill. It was an awkward end to a bizarre meeting with one of the most powerful witches. Could he really leave it like that? He turned around, wanting to say ‘yes, I’ll be coming by tomorrow’ but by that time, the house covered in green vines and held a red roof had vanished. Leaving nothing but large wooded trees as if the home never existed.
A smile appeared on his face, “Witches.” They could do anything they want, when they wanted.
Amythst trotted through the Enchanted Forest, attempting to find his way back down to the Circa Village but had zero luck going back on his own. He ran into some of the local Spirts who hissed at his very existence and then there were the Half-Breeds who chased him away from their nest.
Finally, when the sun hit the mountains that laid in the distance, coloring the forest purple and the sky pink, he found his way back down and to his surprise, his friends were still there. Sitting on the ugly pastel broken brick path, chatting with one another.
Victor, the blue scaled Half-Breed octopus, was the first to spot him with his black eyes.
“He’s alive!” he cried, his many legs crawling over to him. Amythst clinched his body and closed his eyes. He felt Victor’s tentacles wrap around his fragile body and his cool skin pressing up against his face.
“Wow!” Gen, a Fire Essence whose body was completely covered in flames flew over to him, “I can't believe it! If the sun had set anymore, I was going to go to the Head and tell him that you’re dead!”
Amythst grinned, attempting to peel Victor off of his body but the suction cups were too strong and so he gave up.
A dark circle on the ground of the cobblestone path moved over to the group. It contained one of the Dark Kinders, a Hellspot named Liam, who rarely ever showed its true form.
“I'm very surprised you’re alive. How was it? Did she threaten you?” Liam inquired.
Amythst opened his mouth, about to say that the witch Danse was a very kind person who fed him and expected him to come by and befriend her only son. But no one would believe him. Her reputation was far greater than his despite it being poor.
“Yep! She most definitely threatened me to never come back to her house ever again!” he lied, “She even said she saw all of you running away from the house when the door opened and was going to come after your families!”
“What!? Oh my god! That’s insane!” Gen awed, his blood red ovals plastered on his face widened.
“I know. It took everything in me to convince her it was my idea and you all were just trying to tell me it was a terrible idea.” He continued his story.
Victor gulped, gripping onto Amythst’s body even tighter. Amythst felt his heart racing against his arm and knew why he was scared. His father, King, was a very scary man who would project his body to be twice the size of any Kinder. He remembered the first time stumbling upon the wrath-filled creature one afternoon in a bookstore.
“We can’t allow our folks to find out about this! They would kill us and offer our bodies to her!” Liam bitterly spoke and the three nodded their heads, making a promise to never do something like that again.
