Have you ever wondered, if you had a chance to get any superpower you could, which superpower would you choose? Most people would say superstrength, or invisibility or maybe even the power to control an element like fire, that would make you a pyromancer who can perform pyrokinesis. But you know what power would be the best? Tychokinesis, the ability to control probability. 'Tychokinesis' the word originates from the Greek goddess of luck, 'Tyche', and so does this story.
A few millennia ago, if you asked a greek, who has tychokinesis, they would only know 2 answers, the goddess Tyche of course and the goddess Nemesis, but that all changed when Tyche decided to have a child, she wanted a son, she could easily manipulate reality itself to match her demands using her Tychokinesis and so she did, she gave birth to a son. As Ironic, as it sounds because of a series of unfortunate events the son of Tyche, inherited her powers, he was the 3rd ever tychomancer. Now you may be wondering, how could this possibly be bad? That's what Tyche thought as well, she was happy that her son was a tychomancer too, but what she didn't realise was that, even though he was her son, his father was still a human, bound by humanity, the son of Tyche succumbed to his powers and decided to misuse them. He did not care for world domination or anything else, he was greedy, he used his powers to win every gamble in every casino he found, he destroyed his own reputation as well as the reputation of his mother, Goddess Tyche herself. She was Furious, she denied any and all claims that the son was her's, but deep down everyone knew that he was her son. Tyche wept for days in shame as she had lost most of her followers due to her own son, she had had enough, she used her powers to manipulate reality itself. What was the chance that every single human on earth suddenly forgot that Tyche had a son? Close to zero right? Well, not anymore. Tyche even used her powers against the Gods, to free her of the shame, but of course the gods realised their perfect memory had been altered and they did not look kindly upon this, and banished Tyche for an eternity, her only hope of returning being to either break out or hope that her son would do many favours towards the gods, which she never believed would ever happen, and she was right to do so, as while Tyche was being banished in shame, everyone still knew of Tyche's son, they just didn't know who his parents were, but they knew HIM, the casino's that had lost all their money against him decided to spread rumours, horrible rumours about him, which spread to his mother as well, but everyone had forgotten about that part, but they still remembered the rumours about him, every city he went to, the rulers would banish him, even as he stopped gambling, the rumours had already done the damage, his face well known and his reputation down in Tartarus. After generations and generations, all of them still carried on the powers, and so they were all dispised, every single one of them feared to ever use their powers or they might be hunted down again, as had happened to their ancestors, because of this their powers weakened through the generations, but that didn't stop one descendant, he commonly used his powers in public, which caused huge outrage, one day the king ordered for the heads of him and his family. He was caught and beheaded in front of cheering crowds while the family managed to flee to another country, namely, Japan. They had to change their name and live in disguises their whole life in Japan, as they had huge bounties on their heads from the angry citizens of Greece, where they came from. They gave their children Japanese names, so they could stay there, and even taught them the Japanese religion, to not stick out, after Generations of this, they had completely forgotten their roots, they completely forgot that they originated from Greece and fled to Japan, but in the year 1963 an old manuscript was found in the family house, where all the descendants lived. It described how their family was hunted down by the descendants of the Goddess Nemesis and her allies, and how they should never become and ally with any of them, of course but it was all in greek, no one understood any of that until last year, when my parents realised that one of them was a descendant of Tyche, and the other one a descendant of Nemesis...
