When the clock inside Yan’s artificial skeleton hit two in the afternoon, hell broke loose. 2100 felt real, and he felt it’s repeating. That time, two in the afternoon, started the burning end of humanity as he knew it.
Yan was a dual robot, though his extra feature got designed on pure accident. He was a caretaker for a disabled writer. He helped through her daily life in a wheelchair. His other job was modeling the newest clothes of well-known clothing brands.
As said, modeling was an accidental design. That accident being his looks. Zhenun upgraded his code months later after his owner agreed to add the model code. Soon enough Yan was working both at the catwalk and caring for his owner.
A Chinese company under the name 'Zhenun' is responsible for his existence. Their robots were primary robots used in the fashion industry. Usually, model coding was rather easy, too easy. When Yan’s owner came to the company headquarters, the leaders weren’t too keen on fulfilling her request. A request for a caretaker robot, to be exact. But with debating and an offer to fund any robots by the company, the leaders fulfilled the request.
So, Yan was born. He was the only one of his line.
His model was of a light-skinned Asian, while his build was slim and tall. On his mid-back was a maroon colored imprint of a star with more tiny ones below it.
His glass eyes were dark maroon, and his hair a blueish-black color. His hair was in a medium length ponytail that fell over his shoulder. Though the hair was only made like this after Zhenun took him back. They took him back right after his first owner’s death. He proceeded to work in the modeling industry until his expire date.
Zhenun’s models are rarely thrown away. After their expire date, Zhenun workers transported the models globally. Small shops at the end of valleys sold the models for questionable prices. Robots sold like this always guarantee to have some sort of malfunction and so sell at bare least of prices.
Annelise, an engineer in robotics bought Yan . As Annelise never found an available workplace, she resorted to an underground business. She bought sold off robots and repaired them for her clients. She flew off to America to get a robot for one of her reoccurring clients. There she stumbled into the store where Yan was. Good thing, she was still full with money so she could afford both Yan and the robot needed,. Along with them she bought some parts she needed to upgrade them both. She did wonder a bit though; a beautiful model sold in this kind of store would was rare and bought in a second. How come she stumbled up on him?
Her suspicion got its answer when she started his repairs. His model was rather old, all the way from 2050, it was 2080 now and all robots had more practice and easier coding. Annelise took months off her job to fix Yan, and struggled it out with his parts and code. She managed to finish the repair and emotion and fertility upgrades after around a year and a half.
Sudden awakening was rather strange to Yan at first. As soon as his malfunctions became too much he knew what was next. All a sudden awakening to an engineer grinning at his figure, though, was something other.
At first, he called his new owner ‘Miss’, in a polite tone and without expressing any new-found emotions. But after a few back-and-forths he started showing emotions. His grip on politeness became looser. By the end, he tended to fool with his owner and travel everywhere with her. Nontheless, they spent the rest of their years comfortable, without much tension.
Right now, it has been around seven years since the explosion. Annelise seemed to be enthusiastic even though she was freezing to death in her own home day by day. Yan could do very little to help. She died four years ago, and these past three Yan lived in this ghost house alone.
Now, there was a overwhelming urge to go, go and never return. Annelise wasn’t going to return, why was he waiting anyway?
And so, he went into the ghost world. As Annelise requested before her life withered away. The streaks of light outside were calling his name. Living in the dark rooms of his previous home all this time played his mind.
It was time to go.
