After finishing his paper, Jun had only gotten 3 hours of sleep. He took care of his morning bathroom business then dragged himself to the mirror. The bags under his eyes were bad. He pasted on some Korean under-eye sheets and began brushing his teeth. Other than his eyes, though, there was something odd about his reflection. Standard bedhead, check. Broad yet skinny shoulders, check. Silvery third nipple, check.
Jun did a double take at his chest. Right atop his heart was a glow shining like a full moon. Was that… He rubbed his eyes. He could see his aura!
Immediately, he looked up towards his ceiling. Did the gods really hear his plea? If he could see his aura, that meant he could see his soulmates! Today was the day he'd finally find a boyfriend! Fervently, Jun got dressed, grabbed his messenger bag, and shot out the door, eager to discover who he might encounter.
As he walked towards the subway, he paid extra attention to the other pedestrians. Aquamarine, pine green, sunflower yellow, cerulean, brick red… None matched his silver. Still, he continued on with hope.
The subway was packed as usual with students and office workers yawning, texting, and giving those who bumped into them the stink eye. As to be expected on a Monday. Jun couldn’t say he’d have felt much different. Sundays weren’t his usual days to work, but he’d been covering for someone else the night before. Sundays were usually homework days and he got to bed at a reasonable time. So he too would have been as sluggish as everyone else did he not wake up with a life-changing gift. Or rather, an upgrade of his gift.
Finally, Jun spotted it. A silver glow. The tall businessman looked young yet mature with his neat hair and crisp suit. Jun began to fantasize about their future.
“Jun, baby. I finally have a day off Friday. Let’s go on a date.”
They’d walk through the park holding hands... The man would throw his tie over his shoulder as he handsomely ate barbecue and fed some to Jun.
Jun’s thoughts were interrupted by a tsunami of passengers boarding. It swept him into an uncomfortable sea of people towards the center of the train.
“Ouch!”
“Sorry!” Jun stammered, realizing he’d stepped on someone’s foot. He looked up to find the foot he’d stepped on was the handsome businessman’s. Was this his Meet Cute?!
“Haha, it’s alright. It’s pretty crowded in here, huh?”
“Yeah,” Jun chuckled.
“Be careful. You’re so small and adorable, I wouldn’t want you to get trampled.”
Jun wasn’t sure whether to blush or scoot away. “Haha,” he laughed nervously. “Thanks.”
“Are you a student?”
Jun gripped his messenger bag to his chest and stared at someone else’s back. “Uh, yeah.”
“What are you studying?”
“Art.”
“What school do you go to?”
“Uh…” Something felt weird.
“When’s your next stop? You should come closer. I’ll shield you.”
A chill ran down Jun’s spine. “No!” he replied too loudly. “I’m fine where I am!”
“Don’t be shy.” The man smirked. “It’s---”
“Hey---” another voice said.
As soon as the man’s hand reached for his butt, Jun’s fist reflexively shot up.
