"I'm home!" I announced as I set aside my shoes to enter my apartment.
I rented this small apartment when I started attending my sophomore year. My friends were wondering why I moved but I didn't share my reasons. It's a whole level of complicated. Still, being the person I am I just can't waste an opportunity presented to me.
I turn on the lights and place my bag on the couch not so lightly. That's when I heard a couple of voices outside. I quickly turn towards the window to see what is all the noise about. I'm about to open the curtain when a voice startled me.
"Good evening, may I ask if you know where is the landlord?" Said the deep voice.
I was suddenly met by a pair of navy blue eyes. Cold ones, may I add.
"Uhm, she lives upstairs, just take the steps, she owns the entire floor." I informed him perfectly hiding my curiosity. What is he doing here? I didn't knew that the floor above is open for rentals.
As the guy turn towards upstairs, I suddenly find myself staring at the most beautiful pair of emerald eyes I've ever seen. It feels somewhat familiar. It has deep flecks of brown towards the center and a dark raven color in the middle. May I add, my favorite shade of brown.
I covered my sigh as a cough then quickly hide in the tangle of curtains. I feel my heart thud repeatedly. It's been two years since I feel this... giddy before. I wait for a couple of minutes to calm and settle my thumping heart.
When my mind cleared again I heard voices from outside my door. " Do you think they hear you?" A playful voice asked, I think.
"No. Maybe you need to speak louder." A cold and serious voice then reply. But somehow I feel warm while I hear him speak. After a couple of shuffle I heard a knock. My giddiness was replaced by nervousness.
I'm not used to talking to boys since that happened. I gulp a couple of times when I heard the noise suddenly stoped. I sighed and immediately felt relief when I thought that they already left.
That's when I heard a cold and somehow has a tint of warmth tangled into a voice that broke the silence.
"Let's just go back tomorrow." Then I heard foot steps walking away from my room.
Amidst the turmoil, I managed to peek at the corner of my window. I saw, again, a pair of emerald eyes staring back at me. He kept a blank face but as I stare at him I can saw curiosity and maybe a tinge of, familiarity?
I can't help myself for blatantly staring at this beautiful creature, I mean man, when my thoughts were interrupted by my roommate.
"What are you doing crouched at the corner? You look like you're hiding from someone." March stated. I jumped from my previous position causing me to bump my hip at the hard part of the couch.
"Ouch!" I glared at her while she yawns in the middle of the room without any care at the world. That's when I realized that the beautiful guy is still standing just outside my room and I'm now completely exposed through the opened curtain.
I twist myself so fast just to be face to face with him, the third time tonight. I didn't even hear him moving close. I'm thankful for the couch beside me or I wouldn't be standing so straight right now. I feel my knees turn into jellies when he scans my face. He didn't say any word and his eyes are now filled with something I can't recognize.
Maybe because of my expression right now. I feel heat creeping on my face and I'm sure that I have a full blown blush right now. Well, what kind of person wouldn't blush when they're in front of a gorgeous guy. We kept scanning each other faces, his forehead, cheek, long eyelashes, especially his eyes, and don't get me to starting describing his luscious hair. I just want to run my fingers through them all day.
Ok, I sound like a seventh grader with a crush right now, seriously STOP.
Our little moment- if you call staring, rather scanning each others faces a moment, was put into a stop when his buddies called him.
"Charlie, aren't you coming down?" The guy earlier called him. He breaks our eye contact then turned around towards them. I watched him walking downstairs. I kept watching even when his shadow is gone.
I was pulled out of my trance when a hand was placed on my shoulder.
"Hey, it's like ten minutes and you're still standing right there stiff as a statue. Are you day dreaming?" Is it really a day dream. I still can't wrap my mind around the thought that I saw the most gorgeous guy I've ever seen. I shook my head at the thought.
"Sorry, I'm just thinking of something. I didn't know that you're already home." I immediately changed the topic. I don't want her worrying about me. She won't stop asking her questions and will not let me go until she gets satisfied. She shook her head then tsked at me.
"You won't escape me dear, is there something bothering you?" She smirked and i can tell that she caught a glimpse of the guy outside. I just sighed then plopped myself down the couch. I lifted my head to stare at her.
"It's just a guy, maybe looking for an apartment."
"Hey, I didn't know that the landlord is having upstairs for rent." I tried to change the topic again but to no vail. She just kept on her smirk. There's no escaping her when she's like this. I sighed, again, my previous giddiness is gone and gestured for her to sit next to me.
"So, what is the deal?" She plopped down next to me while swinging her legs back and forth. This is just my lucky day is it. Better start getting comfortable, this will be a really long night.
