When I walked into the classroom there was only one more seat left unoccupied. I lightly jogged across the room to reach the seat, before anyone else could. It was behind a girl who's hair was up in a painful looking bun. ”Hello, class. My name is Mr. Sweets. This is AP history, if you’re expecting to pass by not doing anything, then there's the door, go see Mrs. Copper.” As soon as he was done, the girl from before turned around in her seat with a giant smile across her face, and said: ”Hey, I’m Casey, Casey Alerick.”
“Um… I’m Sky... Greene.” I said, startled. As we talked, I flipped through my history textbook until I got to the pages of our assignment. Casey watched me work for a couple of seconds. Then, “So, I heard that Jackson Emmerson actually talked to you.”
“Um… yeah.”
“Jackson… The senior! He doesn't even give a second glance to anybody, much less talk to them.”
As she was talking, I could see a slow grin showing on her face. I wanted to ask her if she thought something was off about him but she broke my train of thought with, “Give me your schedule.” When I gave it to her, she frowned.
“We don't have any other classes together, but I'll see you at lunch.”
As soon as she said that, the bell rang and the halls were once more crowded. Thankfully, I managed to find my next class on my own. Of course it's my least favorite class, P.E. As I made my way across the gym, I found an empty space at the top of the bleachers and sat down. I was hoping to keep to myself, but as I looked around, I noticed Jackson standing in the corner across the gym, watching me. He had a mysterious look on his face. As he met my gaze, I felt my cheeks starting to burn and quickly broke eye contact.
After a couple minutes, a shadow was cast over me and when i looked, Jackson standing next to me with a smirk on his face.
“This seat taken?” he said gesturing to the spot next to me.
“Um… no” I said making sure to avoid eye contact. So i just turned away and started looking at all the pictures from last year. Once again stopping at the picture of me and Calvin. Remembering all we went through, just for me to leave.
