It was weird for Sandra to see such tidy and clean robots. Must’ve been the human’s favorite. During the years her silicone skin lived through the troubles of its own. Today it remains damaged and discolored in places. Good thing most of the damage is underneath the clothes so her gears can’t get frosted. But they still get cold which can slow down her actions if she isn’t heating them up over and over again.
Meanwhile, the two seemed to have almost white skin. Paler than Sandra’s skin at least. She had only ever seen her and the men’s skins so she wasn’t as sure.
Spying on their conversation, Sandra wondered if she should leave them be or tell them to get out. A part of her wanted to watch them suffer when the men finally came back and an another wanted to save them.
These were complications plaguing her wires each day.
“You shouldn’t stay here.”, with careful steps Sandra got up from her position. Her steps were quiet except for the low clicking in her gears when she moved. It echoed from the walls despite how quiet it was.
“Why is that?”, Aiden looked towards the empty room, stopping in his tracks. Only now has he caught sight of the two eyes looking at him. That and a faint sight of blonde hair on discolored silicone that lit up from a tiny bit. Of course, this glow was from the outside and shot down from the high window in the factory.
“Those humans.”, distress in her voice, she lowered it as soon as she realized how loud she spoke. Her knees pulled her to the floor slowly as she continued, “They will come back, and you will hurt.”.
“They will whip your fingertips and break your gears.”
Violetta watched Sandra with a hint of confusion, mixed with consideration.
“Humans have been extinct for seven years now. Do you not know?”
Sandra needed time to process that. There is no way that is real. It is currently 2098, twelve in the evening.
“It is 2098, Thursday. Sixth of February.”, Sandra retrieved the time from her code.
But the seconds weren’t moving.
“ No, I’m sorry but that is wrong. Your clock must have broken by time. It is twelve in the morning. July of 2107.”, Violetta took a few steps towards the dark room. “I can see what is wrong, if you’d let me.”
Sandra stumbled back, she isn’t going to open up to a single strange robot passing by. Only ones who can repair her are Sandras.
Only ones who can repair her are Sandras.
“The men have sent the two of you here to get me out!”, Sandra backed up to the farthest wall she could. “They sent you to get me out so they can break me again! Only they can take me out of here, otherwise forbidden!”
Violetta stopped and moved herself back too.
“I’m sorry, I will not try anything. I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”, Violetta looked at Aiden who was a few steps away. As both to signal something and to tell him to back up, which he did.
“I hope leaving this can change your mind.”
Checking the analog clock in her hands, Violetta took a few steps to the front of the room with caution. She put the clock down on the old door which laid broken in front of the room and stepped back.
“Do you at least let us stay here? We will stay away from your room.”, Aiden asked now, hoping the situation had cooled down.
“Do as you wish, you are with them anyway. They will let you sleep here.”
The two robots didn’t say a word and proceeded to the right of the factory.
Scrapped fabrics and boxes of fabric filled the space. In front of the wall of these fabrics were many production tracks. Violetta and Aiden guessed those were where the robots like that worked.
Finding a good spot around some boxes the two settled down. Violetta sat cross-legged as Aiden unscrewed the plate under a flap of silicone at the back of her neck. Under it was a purple microphone imprint. The ‘Glazby’ logo.
It has been some time since he has seen that imprint elsewhere.
Finally getting the plate unscrewed with an old screwdriver, Aiden took a deep breath.
“Alright, get ready for a nap.”
“Good night.”, the last words said by Violetta, as Aiden shut her off. Her body rumbled for a moment before falling back onto him. He placed his robot partner beside him with a gentle kiss before getting up. He doubted robots visiting the factory, but he kept watch.
Remembering the companion from before, Aiden tried to spark up a conversation. Maybe they would be comfortable with the idea of Violetta fixing them if they knew each other more.
“I’m sorry to bother you again. But may I at least know your name?”, Aiden snuck to the side of the room the other robot was in.
There was no reply.
