Outside of the warehouse, Dian carries Kenji as the pair walk closer towards the doors.
“You're heavy,” Dian says annoyed. “How are you this short and this heavy?”
“Maybe it’s not that I’m heavy, but you're physically weak,” Kenji says struggling to stand.
Dian tosses him to the ground and stands over him. “Maybe I don’t need to help you stand after all since you're acting like an idiot, anyway.”
“You’re wearing a skirt.” Kenji turns his eyes away.
“I’m wearing spats!” She yells out.
“Can you two please be quiet,” Harry says walking out of the warehouse. “I expected you two to be along, but why are the both of you so noisy.”
Dian tenses up and stares. “Mom?”
“Hi, honey,” Harry says with a gentle grin.
“Mom?” Kenji twists his body around to look at Harry. “I didn’t know that Dian had a Mom.”
Dian steps on Kenji. “Be quiet you.”
“Now come on, kids.” Toshiro walks out of the warehouse towards the two. “Kenji did you sneak out of the hospital?”
“Yes,” Kenji says.
“You know you shouldn’t have done that if you’re not up to moving around yet.” He says seriously.
“I wanted, no I needed to see Repi. I felt he needed me here and now!” Kenji tries forcing himself up off of the ground.
Toshiro leans over and lifts Kenji up off of the ground. “Alright then. Let’s go see the big lizard.”
Harry smirks. “I thought you almost became a responsible adult for a moment.”
“Well, I figured Kenji could use a bit of a pick me up since he’s not doing so great right now,” Toshiro says happily.
Toshiro holds onto Kenji as the pair moves into the warehouse as Harry and Dian stand outside of the doors. Dian turns her head away from Harry and rushes ahead moving towards the doors.
“Sorry Mom, I have to make sure Kenji and Dad are going to do okay,” Dian says.
Harry stands outside as Dian passes and enters the warehouse as she breathes in and exhales quickly. “Yeah, it’s still awkward. I hope one day this odd thing between us gets better.”
Kenji and Dian stare off at Repigigas as it glares down on them with an intense gaze as they move closer to it. Kenji smiles and lifts up his hand moving closet towards Repigigas as it continues to glare with an intense anger and rage behind its eyes.
“I can barely feel it,” Kenji says. “Normally I can sense my Bond with Repi, like Repi is always in the back of my mind, but for some reason right now, I barely sense anything between us.”
Toshiro steps forward. “It’s as I feared. Someone meddled with your Bond.”
“What!?” Dian yells out rushing ahead. “Dad, that’s not even possible. How could someone alter a Bond so easily? Normally something like this would require at least four Minders in direct links with each other.”
“True. But I hesitate to call it impossible, I mean we’re looking right at a prime example right here.” Toshiro says. “I mean you checked it out yourself, didn’t you Dian?”
Dian turns her head away. “Yeah, I did. I was barely there, it was just so weak I could barely sense it myself.”
“See so something or someone has messed up their Bond and caused this situation. I wonder what their end game could be here?” Toshiro asks.
Kenji looks back. “But Boss, if things stay like this how are Repi and I going to battle together?”
“That’s right in this condition Repi won’t listen to any commands or anything we tell him to do. If this keeps up, we’ll be at a massive disadvantage in battle.” Dian says.
“True, but there’s no other way. If we give up, we’ll be at a disadvantage, but if we fight, we’ll at least gain some points in our favor.” Toshiro says.
Kenji steps forward. “Fine, we’ll battle.”
“Wait, both you and Repi aren’t….”
“It doesn’t matter! We came here to Brawl, and we’re going to Brawl and win this thing!” Kenji yells out.
Repigigas roars out in a rage as everyone stares up at it. Electricity sparks across its body and Kenji stares up at it. However, in a moment it calms down, and the electricity stops with everyone simply watching.
“What was that?” Dian asks.
“Even if the Bond is weakened or gone, the memories Repigigas and Kenji share won’t disappear,” Toshiro says.
Kenji stares at Repi and reaches out his hand. “Do you remember it? The mountain and when we set out across the sea?”
Dian simply watches. “Humans and Kaiju are fundamentally different. Without a Bond or a weakened Bond, there shouldn’t be any form of connection between the Brawler and their Kaiju, there should be nothing.”
“Well, Repi and I have gone through a lot. So even without the Bond, there exists a connection between the two of us.” Kenji says.
Toshiro smiles and walks off. “Well I’ll leave you kids to it, make sure you're ready and I’ll make sure they still let us battle.”
“Right!” Kenji yells out.
“If you say so, Dad.”
Toshiro walks outside as Harry awaits and turns away from him. “I’ll leave the rest of this to you all.”
“Thanks for all of your help Harry.”
Harry smirks. “I only helped because I wanted to see Dian again. She’s grown a little since last time.”
“She’s growing all the time, becoming a fine young woman.”
“Which is surprising considering your currently her only parent.” Harry turns back. “That boy has the same look in his eyes as you did after a difficult night.”
“Humans and Kaiju are fundamentally different. Our thoughts, minds, reasonings, and even our norms are almost entirely alien to one another, but us Brawlers bridge that gap and try to understand each other, that is a Bond.”
“You’ve told me that hundreds of times by now.”
“But it’s correct when they reach a certain amount of reason and two become one in mind and body that’s when a true miracle will be born.”
Harry walks away with a quick smirk on her face. “Well, for this time I’ll have faith in your miracles.”
“That’s all I could ask,” Toshiro says happily.
Inside of the warehouse Kenji sits near Repigigas staring at the Kaiju intently as he reaches out for a touch. A barrier of electricity forces him away as he reels backward staring ahead at Repi.
“Come on. By now I would’ve ridden on your back or played around, but now you're acting all standoffish.”
Dian walks ahead. “Are you sure you’re okay to battle?”
“Well my head hurts and my body hurts, but I have to do this or else I’d feel worthless after coming this far,” Kenji chides.
“Well with Repi rampaging and your about to keel over I’m sure our chances of winning are sky high right now,” Dian says lowering herself to Kenji’s side. “If we give up, we’ll only lose a little, but showing an out-of-control Kaiju would defiantly get us kicked out.”
“But I can’t just walk away from a battle, my pride as a Brawler just won’t allow it!”
Dian scoffs. “Damn your pride, if you get yourself hurt out there, I’m not carrying you again.”
Kenji smiles. “Well your pretty weak anyway so that might be for the best.”
Dian stands up and walks away glaring at Kenji as she leaves him and Repi alone. With Dian gone Kenji turns and looks back up at Repi as it turns its eyes towards him.
“You can still tell it’s there, right?” Kenji asks reaching out his hand again. “Come on Repi, I know you can sense it just as well as I can, let’s do our best in our match tomorrow.”
Repi turns away from Kenji and ignores him as Kenji simply smiles. At the same time in the corner of the room, Dian watches and turns away.
“That idiot, there’s no way I can leave someone like him alone.” She whispers to herself.
